Chapter 437 The Price of Obsession.
“Why did you use that drug on him?”
Quinn pressed him.
“What choice did I have?”
The man let out a cold snort. “If,
were casier to control, I wouldn’t have used it. But that was the only
drug we had that could actually keep someone in check.”
“But you knew there was no cure for it.”
Quinn couldn’t help but yell.
“Of course I knew. Wasn’t I counting on him or Sierra to figure one out? What a shame.”
There was a trace of regret in the
man’s voice.
“That’s enough. Time’s running out. You should get going. We still need you.”
The man spoke lightly.
“Leave? No, I’m not going anywhere!”
Quinn’s face was blank. “He’s dead. What’s the point of anything I’ve done?”
Hearing that, the man’s tone shifted. “Thinking of quitting now? Isn’t it a little too late for that?”
Quinn didn’t feel the least bit threatened. She let out a cold laugh. “You should know why I joined you in the first place. All these years, it’s only ever been for him. He’s gone now. What’s the point of any of it?”
At her words, the man chuckled strangely. “You were so devoted. Did he even know? He didn’t. In fact, he hated you avoided you like the plague. You barely showed him a little affection, and he rushed to draw the line. Don’t forget how pathetically you begged me back then to let you join the organization.”

His words tore open parts of Quinn’s
memory she never wanted to revisit.
