Skylar thought to herself, ‘Maybe it’s better to just wait until Brada comes to terms with it and backs off on his own!

Skylar finally came to terms with it. She rubbed her cold arms and went back inside.

For the next few days, Freya returned to school and checked into an off–campus hotel, avoiding any contact with Skylar lest she come to settle scores

Freya had been a nervous wreck for days, constantly on edge, but when she saw that Skylar showed no sign of doing anything, the Einally breathed a sigh of relief.

Freya still didn’t dare go back. She decided to wait it out until everyone had nearly forgotten about the incident before returning

For some reason, Brada hadn’t shown up at Phidon for several days.

Skylar finally enjoyed her peace, relieved that no one was clinging to her like a leech anymore, she could finally relax.

But her peace didn’t last long before Brada popped up again.

Brada showed up with his signature bouquet of gorgeous roses in hand.

He pulled up a chair and sat across the desk from Skylar. “Skylar, last time your mom mentioned you should show me around. Have you thought about where you’d like to take me?”

Brada propped his elbows on the desk, chin resting in his hands, his face alight with anticipation. He said, “Skylar, if you can’t decide, why not let me choose for us?”

Before Skylar could respond, Brada went on eagerly, “I heard there’s a local church with a miraculous statue. Let’s go pray together, and maybe get some hiking in while we’re at it?”

Skylar thought to herself, ‘I did promise to show him around last time, just doing my duty as a good host.

‘Since he’s already got everything planned out, that spares me the trouble of making arrangements. Might as well slack off for once.

She checked the weather on her phone. As luck would have it, tomorrow was the only sunny day before a whole week of rain, a perfect window of opportunity.

‘Let’s get this over with,‘ Skylar thought.

Skylar nodded in agreement and set the time. “Alright then, tomorrow it is.”

Brada nodded eagerly. “Sounds great! I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”

“Fine.”

Brada was absolutely delighted, his joy completely unrestrained as he grinned from ear to ear.

He hadn’t come to see Skylar these past few days. He’d been caught up with church matters.

He’d already made a prior visit, donated a hefty sum of money, and successfully curried favor with the priest.

Brada had already cut a deal with the priest, and when he and Skylar prayed for their love, they were guaranteed to get the best possible outcome.

All was set, now it was just a matter of them going over.

The next day, Brada personally drove over to pick Skylar up.

Adam stood on a bench by the window, straining on tiptoe to peer outside before hopping down.

Right after Skylar and Brada left, Adam texted his dad to report.

Adam: [Dad! Mom just went out alone with that guy. They’re going to Wish Church today. Hurry up and follow them, don’t let Mom get too done to himis

Yosef received the message, promptly delegated his tasks, and instructed Hudson, “I have something to attend to today. You’re in charge of overming the completion of the assigned tasks.”

“Understood, Mr. Campbell. I’ll make sure everything runs smoothly.”

With everything settled, Yosef drove to Wish Church by himself.
