Chapter 219
Yana had the maid quickly bring him some ice water. Brada tilted his head back and gulped it all down, but the burning just wouldn’t go away.
The maid quickly brought him a glass of ice–cold milk, and that finally did the trick, the burning sensation eased at last.
Tears sprang to Brada’s eyes from the intense spiciness, leaving them glistening and damp. A single teardrop clung stubbornly to his lashes, refusing to
fall.
His lips were puffed up and bright red, making him look so pitiful.
Freya asked with feigned concern, “Brada, how are you feeling? Would you like some ointment?”
Brada waved his hand dismissively. “I’m fine, really.”
He set down the milk carton and said apologetically, “Sorry for making a fool of myself in front of everyone.”
Yana chuckled, a mix of amusement and concern in her voice. “It’s alright. You should’ve told me you can’t handle spicy food, then I could’ve asked them to make something milder for you.”
Brada scratched his head sheepishly and said, “No worries. I can handle spicy food, just not eating plain chili peppers.”
“Given how you are now, you really shouldn’t eat anything spicy,” Yana said with concern, “Just stick to the milder dishes.” She then instructed the maid to move the mild dishes before him.
“Thanks,” Brada said with a grateful smile.
The minor incident soon passed, and everyone went back to their meal, though a hint of tension still lingered in the air.
Yosef mechanically chewed his food, barely tasting anything.
The Lambert family clearly treated Brada much better than him. If he couldn’t change their opinion of him and regain Skylar’s forgiveness, he’d be struck out for good.
He’d never allow Skylar to be with someone else.
Yosef mechanically ate his food, all the while strategizing his next move.
Once everyone had finished eating, the maid brought out the coffee, desserts, and fresh fruit that had been prepared in advance.
Adam couldn’t wait, he dragged his dad into his room to hatch their plan.
Yana was about to bring them some snacks when Freya eagerly volunteered.
“Let me do it!” Freya said.
Freya knocked on the door, holding a fruit platter. Yosef opened it. Smiling, she said, “I brought you some fruit.”
As Yosef took the fruit platter and was about to close the door, Freya stuck her foot in to stop him. “I need to talk to you,” she said firmly, not budging an
inch.
Yosef regarded her coldly. “What is it?”
Freya lowered her voice and said to Yosef, “Mr. Campbell, not here.”
Freya led Yosef into an unoccupied room.
Freya leaned in and said with a hint of mischief, “Mr. Campbell, you’ve seen Skylar and that Brada together. There’s clearly something going on between

them.
Yosef narrowed his eyes and said coldly, “So, what exactly are you trying to say?”
Freya stepped closer to him, but Yosef snapped, “Stay there. Just say what you need to say from where you are.”
She said, “Mr. Campbell, how about we work together? I’ll help you get Skylar, and you help me take control of the Lambert family and Brada. When it’s done, I’ll cut you in for forty percent of everything the Lamberts own.”
Yosef sneered, “I don’t think you’re capable of that.”
Yosef narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them. “Stop dreaming. Don’t even think about it. Be careful, or you’ll get burned,” he warned, his voice icy. “Stay away from her, or I’ll make sure you disappear without a trace.”
