Time's Up, but Ex-husband Wants Her Back novel Chapter 9

Jasmine's lips were pale, her legs shaky as she forced herself up to her feet. She turned to one of the property managers. "I was told that my package was left on the fifth floor."

The man frowned in confusion. "But the fifth floor is the private gym. Your delivery wouldn't be up there."

A sudden thought hit Jasmine like a bolt of lightning. Bracing herself against the wall, she stumbled toward the security booth.

The guard's eyes flickered with guilt the instant he spotted her.

She clenched her fists, her voice trembling as she forced the words out. "Who told you to do this?"

The guard stammered an apology. "I-I didn't want to, Mrs. Ford. It was Mr. Ford's orders."

It turned out that Calvin was behind this.

Jasmine nearly laughed at the absurdity of it all. She wondered if Calvin had actually conspired with security to set her up, all over Olivia's wounded pride from last night.

She trembled with fury. The moment she got home, she plugged in her dead phone.

Then, she unblocked Calvin on WhatsApp and fired off a message. "You're despicable, Calvin!"

His WhatsApp call connected almost instantly. "Jasmine, if you don't start listening, expect this to happen again."

For the first time, Jasmine cursed at him. "You're such an asshole, Calvin!"

She hung up and blocked him again.

Calvin fumed and turned to Vanessa. "All I told you to do was cut the power and water for one night to teach her a lesson. Was that really enough to make her call me an asshole?"

Vanessa hesitated. "Well… I didn't expect Mrs. Ford to take it so badly."

In the next room, Olivia watched the footage of Jasmine stuck in the elevator with a look of satisfaction. A moment later, she transferred money to the security guard.

Jasmine gritted her teeth through those final days until Amelia handed her the divorce decrees. She set one copy on the coffee table in the living room, then tore open a package to reveal two cans of green paint.

She slathered the paint across every corner of the house. She texted Cora next, telling her to take the month off and that her pay had already been sent.

Only when it was all over did she grab her suitcase and head out the door without looking back.

Shortly after Jasmine left, Calvin returned with Olivia.

Olivia clung to his arm, pouting. "Cal, I'm starving. I'd kill for some of Jasmine's home-cooked food right now."

Calvin said soothingly, "Don't worry. I'll have her make it for you."

After the way Jasmine had treated him, he'd made a point of ignoring her for days. He was sure that by now, she'd learned her lesson and was ready to come crawling back.

He'd given her the cold shoulder countless times for three years and done far worse, even. And in the end, hadn't she always been the one to give in?

Calvin told himself that if she caved this time, he'd hand over that supplementary credit card without hesitation. And he'd raise the limit by another 100 thousand dollars if she complained it wasn't enough.

The sharp sting of fresh paint assaulted Calvin's senses as he pushed open the villa's front door.

He marched inside, only to find green paint smeared everywhere. It was on the walls, couches, and even on his prized collection of masterpieces.

Rage surged through him, his entire body trembling, his eyes burning with lethal intensity.

Olivia's eyes widened in disbelief. "Cal, what happened? How could your place end up like this?"

Calvin's veins stood out on his forehead and neck. He drew a deep breath, took the phone from Olivia's hand, and dialed Jasmine's number.

Meanwhile, in the back of a cab, Jasmine received a call from an unknown caller. Expressionless, she answered, "Who's this?"

"Jasmine! Have you lost your damn mind?" Calvin's furious voice crackled through the speaker.

A smirk twisted Jasmine's lips. The hotter his anger burned, the sweeter the satisfaction she gained. She asked, "Do you like my divorce gift?"

Calvin was too blinded by rage over his ruined collection to register the word "divorce".
