Chapter 38
There was no need for further explanation. Brar understood at oner.
In most majors, the title of campus belle amounted to little more than an ego
But in the acting department, the title signified far more than flattery. It could serve as a marketable asset and a built–in hook for launching a career in the entertainment industry.
“Not interested,” Briar said, her tone casual as she let out a small chuckle
Imanis older brother is Ronan, Jolene chimed in So. Briar, you’ve met Ronan in person before, haven’t you?”
Halfway through her sentence, Jolene paused. She suddenly recalled that Briar and Imani were not on good terms. Worry flickered across her face, afraid that she had said something that might upset her.
However, Briar did not look the slightest bit annoyed. Instead, she smiled.
“Yes. I’ve met him” she responded.
Ronan was pretty useless, in her opinion. Her first impression of him was that he was far too soft, almost 1 spineless
Still, his character was not bad. Ronan was at least somewhat normal among the chaotic mess of the Shepherd family.
Jolene hesitated for a moment, then asked exatiously, “Briar”
“If you have something to say, just say it Briar replied, her expression warm with a hint of amusement.
Jolene fumbled with her words, then finally said, “Would you be willing to help me get Ronan’s autograph? I know Imand’s not a great person, but Ronan is different. He_”
“Sure,” Briar said before Jolene could finish.
“There’s no need to be so nervous. It is not a big deal. Once we’re back,
“Briar, you’re the best” Jolene’s eyes sparkled with gratitude. She probably would have screamed excitedly if they were not on a bus.
Mar quickly added. “Briar, I want one too!”
Briar raised her eyebrows, dearly amused as she looked at them. So you’re both Euns of Ronan? Why didn’t you say something earlier?”
Marrubbed her hands together awkwardly, offering a sheepish grin. “We just thought since, you and Imani don’t get along, and he’s her brother.”
Her voice faded before she could finish, the rest hanging unspoken. It was obvious now why they had kept quiet about it all this time.
“Do Freally seem that perty to you!” Briar scoffed lightly. “But, it sounds like neither of you is very fond of your Idol’s sister.”
Horum and Imani were siblings, at least in name. That much was true.
Mae’s smile fabered for a moment
“Imand? She’s no sister, Mae scoffed. “She’s been clinging to his fame for years. Ronan never even talks about her. No one cares about her. That whole family’s just a bunch of leeches”
Briar’s interest was immediately piqued. “Tell me more.”
Mac’s face twisted in frustration as she launched i
into a rant
These
past couple of years. Ronan has been appearing nonstop on variety shows, quickly burning through his popularity. Every penny he earns goes straight into covering the endless expenses of the Shepherd family. If this continues, they’ll completely drag him down.”
In the entertainment industry, variety shows were the fastest way to
to earn money.
Atop female celebrity could remain at the peak for years, but male stars were replaced in the blink of an eye. Without solid acting credentials, someone like Ronan, who relied entirely on popularity, was bound to fade quickly.
A thoughtful glant appeared in Brar’s eyes.
She used to think that her so–called parents simply disliked her. But now it seemed they were just as indifferent to their biological son.
If Briarhad not gone through several rounds of DNA tests with them after being brought back into the Shepherd family four years ago, she might have genuinely believed that Imani was their daughter instead.
Chapter 38
Excitement buzzed through the bus as freshmen speculated wildly about the training camp awaiting them.
Moments later, the bus came to a halt, brakes hissing as they reached their destination.
The new students stepped off the bus, dragging their luggage behind them, but what greeted them was comindly unexpected.
Suddenly, a powerful spray from high–pressure water guns drenched the newcomers, startling them entirely.
