On Sunday morning, I left Cyra to train the warriors on our side of the pack with my father, and I took our friends to the new side of the pr

“You’re really going to have to do something about the literal divide in your pack lands,” Zach says on the drive over.

“Yeah. The only thing I can think of is to build a centralized packhouse, which we can’t do until Cyra has our financial situation in hand.”

“It’s a good thing the two of you like hard work. You’re about to have a year of it,” Chase says.

“Yeah, but you have us too,” Piper says.

“Thank goodness for that,” I say.

Warrior training went really well. The pack responded positively to my form of training and they enjoyed sparring against my friends. Since all of them but Landon are Alphas, and he’s an incredible warrior, they’re all very good at instructing others on how to fight. The feeling in the pack when we were done was light and excited.

Afterward, I met with Beta Eric and Gamma Hugo to go over patrol schedules. While we were doing that, I got my first real dose of Gamma

Hugo. He’s lazy, that’s the only way to put it.

“That’s a really big area to patrol. Our patrols will be running miles if you expect them to cover both packs,” he says.

“First of all, we’re one pack. Second, if the shifts are the same length of time, then the amount of miles they run will be the same, they just won’t be looping around the same area over and over. And rather than two sets of patrols, we’re going to have four, two from each side of our ONE pack,” I say, stressing that we are one now.

“I mean, I guess it will work,” he says, shrugging.

“What doesn’t make sense about that, Gamma?” Beta Eric asks him.

“It just seems like as a much larger space our patrols will have to work harder. Maybe we should shorten the patrol times.”

“Why would we do that? The space is larger, yes. But if they’ve been patrolling as they should, there won’t be any additional running involved. If anything, having more space to run will give their wolves an opportunity to stretch their legs more. According to Thad, he and every other wolf he’s ever met would be thrilled to have that opportunity to run. If your patrols need stamina training, start working on that. We’re not decreasing the shift time, but we are increasing the area that they’ll be patrolling.”

When we finish creating the patrol assignments, I stay behind with Eric.

“How is he a Gamma?” I ask him once Hugo is gone.

“He was friends with Christer and Stellan.”

“Do you have any problem with me demoting him?” I ask him.

“No, although me being here on my own with a pack that is still feeling a little disconnected could be a difficult if he starts causing problems,

he says.

“I’ll talk to my father. If Hugo doesn’t improve over the next week, he’s out. If he keeps complaining or starts causing disruption or discontent in the pack, he’s not only going to be demoted, he’ll be out of the pack,” I tell him.

“Do you want me to keep you or Alpha Warren informed?” he asks.

“Both of us, but obviously Dad is closer. Cyra and I are leaving tonight and won’t be back until Friday night, so at my father first, then

“Will do.”

“I’ll send you the patrol schedules from the other side so you know who to expect on patrol. I’m going to split the patrols so the processo intermixed. I think that will help build some cohesiveness and have the different sides start mingling and getting to know excitate entier

“Send it over when you have it and I’ll make sure Hugo Implements it.”

“Thank you.”

When we’re done, I get the others and we go back to the other side of the pack. Zach is right, we need a centralized location. We’ll never be able to act like one pack while we’re separated like this.

“Hey! How did it go?” Cyra asks, walking up when we return.

“Great! And I got the patrol schedules set up on that side. I’m going to meet with Beta Lewis and Gamma Elliot over here to do the same

before we leave.”

“Perfect. The purchase of the land came through this morning. We sent the final specifications for our land to the Council. I also sent it over to Beta Eric. What did you think of Gamma Hugo?”

“Lazy and probably not long for his ranked position. I need to talk to Dad about that before we leave. I was going to demote him today, but Eric made a good point about things not being stable and that would leave only him to manage over there.”

“So, next weekend, we’re spending the weekend on that side?” she asks.

“Yes, and we need to figure out how we can combine these two packs. Anything new on the financial front?”

“No. Warren and I looked through everything and didn’t see anything about any money tucked away or invested somewhere. Warren suggested talking to Hacker when we get back. I’ll need to see what it would cost us, but if there really is money hidden away somewhere, it

would be worth the cost to find it.”

“Maybe he’ll give us a discount if we tell him it’s a good learning opportunity for Sphinx,” I say grinning.

Cyra laughs. “I’m not above throwing your sister’s name in if it means getting a discount. I’m also going to talk to them about cyber security in our pack. I know they said Connor’s pack wasn’t secure before and I want to make sure ours is.”

“Hmmm,” I say, thoughtfully.

“What? I know that look. You’re cooking up a plan.”

“Well, what if we invite Hacker out here next weekend to physically look over the two packs and work to connect them to the same security system? Since Mom and Dad are here, and Yana, Yvonne, and Wade were already planning to visit this week…” I say, watching my mate’s smile grow.

“Then Wendy should come too, decide what room she wants and if Hacker just so happens to be here…”

“Another great learning opportunity,” I say, grinning as I pull my mate against me.

“I love that we think alike,” she says.

“I love that you’re mine,” I growl.

Chapter 275

“I love that we have friends who are Alphas and have lots of land in case I need to get away from the Academy, Zach

moment.

“I love that we have friends that we can rely on for anything. I can’t thank all of you enough for being here this weekend, it’s meant a lester both of us,” Cyra tells him as the others walk up.

“I keep telling you, Cyra, that’s what friends are for,” Piper says.

“Hey, can we get in on this,” Chase asks, walking up and putting his arms around me and Cyra.

“We definitely can,” Zach says, wrapping his arms around us from the other side.

“GROUP HUG!” Landon says, somehow joining the hug.

“Y’all are all a bunch of idiots,” Piper says, walking up and wrapping her arms around all of us too.

“Yeah, but we’re your idiots,” Zach says, making all of us laugh.

We stand like that for a moment, just being together.

“I love you guys,” I tell them.

“Hey, hey, hey! Don’t go getting all flirtatious with us in front of Aphrodite. I’m no match for the Goddess of Love,” Zach says playfully before stepping back.

I use the rest of the afternoon to set up patrols on this side. I let both Beta Lewis and Gamma Elliot know that they are to work with Beta Eric

and Gamma Hugo.

Lewis grunts at that.

“Problem?”

“We’ll make it work, but that guy’s lazy. Not Beta Eric, the Gamma,” Lewis says.

“Agreed. But why do you say that?” I ask.

Now Elliot snorts. “He barely lifted a finger when we were clearing that land. Sat around working his jaw muscles about that not being a Gamma’s job, as if we weren’t both ranked members out there helping too.”

“Let my dad know if you have any more problems with him. I’m going to give him some rope, see if hangs himself,” I say.

“He will. From what I gather, he’s had a free ride until now, just skating by letting Beta Eric do all the hard work. I don’t see him wanting to change that,” Lewis says.

“Then he’ll find himself demoted and running those extensive patrols he thinks pack members can’t run,” I say.

“Honestly, my wolf was excited about it. I was going to run the perimeter just to give him the opportunity to stretch his legs and make sure there aren’t any unknown problems in the perimeter. We did see what looked like bear tracks and maybe a mountain lion’s tracks when we were clearing yesterday. I want to make sure we don’t have a den anywhere on that vacant land that might cause an unexpected attack, Lewis says.

“Good thinking. Take a couple of warriors with you, just in case, and let my father know what you find. Cyra and Academy after dinner.”

When it’s time to leave, I say goodbye to my parents, asking mom to invite Wendy to come this week as well.

“I’ll be going to the other pack tomorrow. Dr. Benson wants to show me around his pack hospital, and I’d like to meet the pack and see if any pups need a medical assessment.”

“Thanks, Mom,” I say, hugging her.

“And next weekend, we’ll do another test and see what we find,” she says, hugging Cyra.

My mom then goes around and hugs each of our friends while we say goodbye to my father.

As we head to our car, Chase turns to look back and wave at my parents.

“Dude, your mom has to be the sexiest MILF alive, If it weren’t for your dad …”

“I’d still kill you for talking about my mom like that,” I growl.

“Dude, sorry but she’s hot, she’s smart, and she’s loving. She’s the total package.”

“And you’re going to be unconscious if you don’t stop talking about my mother like she’s a conquest,” I say, glaring at him.

“Seriously, dude, Hellfire is the one with no filter. Don’t make Striker show you how he got his name,” Zach says, shaking his head at Chase.

“I’m not wrong,” Chase insists.

“But you keep that shit to yourself, especially in front of her son, you moron!” Landon says, smacking his upside the head.
