“I know you’re still struggling to understand that you’re not alone anymore, Cyra, but you aren’t,” my mate, my sweet, amazing mate says to

He’s right, I don’t know what it means to not be alone, but I’m getting a crash course on what it’s like to have family, a real family, surround you with their love. Looking at my mate, seeing the pure and absolute love in his eyes makes me realize several things all at once.

First, no matter what, I want his mark on my neck and mine on his. Second, I want to be the kind of Alpha that a man like Yorick will be proud of, someone he would want to follow, but would also be willing to stand beside and lead our pack together. And finally, no matter what it takes, no matter how difficult it might be for me, for us, I want him to follow his dream and become an elite warrior for as long as wants that life.

Since I’m already in his lap, I turn, straddling him as I take his mouth in a passionate kiss. His response, as always, is instant. Now that my decision is made, I want to start making it happen right now, all of it. We have a plan, a plan that we can make work. I’m ready to start this life, my new life with Yorick, right now.

When I pull back, he frowns slightly, his arms stroking over my hips and thighs. I’m not sure what he sees on my face, but he smiles.

“Did you want to skip dinner?”

“How much studying do you have to do tonight?” I ask.

“That depends on what my mate has planned,” he says, watching me intently.

“Can you give up one night of studying?”

“For you? For you, I can give up anything,” he says.

“No,” I say, pressing my fingers to his lips. “Not your dreams. Never give up your dreams for me, Yorick.”

“What’s this about, Cyra?”

“I want tonight to be about us. Just you and me. I want to show you how much I love you and appreciate you. To show you how much I want you,” I tell him.

I watch his sexy smile spread across his face. “Hmmm, let me think. Reading over financial ledgers or making love to my mate all night long. Is that really a question?” he asks.

Tslide my fingers through his silky black hair. “I’m going to show you just how much I love you tonight, my mate,” I purr at him.

“I like the sound of that,” he says, nipping at my chin then kissing me again. “Let’s go eat, so we can have our call with the family and then start our night of passionate, mind–blowing sex,” he growls, making me laugh.

He doesn’t know what I’m planning, but I’m pretty sure he’ll agree, and if he doesn’t, then I’ll wait. Goddess knows he’s waited for me.

We have dinner with our friends and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I can just relax and enjoy being with them. We quietly update

them on what’s going to happen with Alpha Christer and the loan, and when we finish dinner, Yorick and I head to Hijack’s room for the call.

“That was a lot of whispering. Are you about to get another instructor fired, Yorick?” Megan asks as we walk out of the dining hall.

“Stop being petty, Megan. Really, if you want to be treated like an Alpha, you should start acting like one,” I say to her, my newfound confidence shining through.

Chapter 253

“Look who grew a pair,” she says.

“The only thing I needed to grow was my self–confidence. You should try it,” I say, before walking away. Since I’m holding hands with Yorick, I lead him away with me.

“Okay, that was sexy as fuck. Can we skip the call and go straight to the sex?” Yorick growls. The sound flows through me sending waves of heat and desire straight to my core.

I flash a grin over my shoulder. “If you’re good and come to the meeting, I’ll make sure I was worth the wait.”

He tugs me back to him, pressing his warm body against mine. “You’re ALWAYS worth the wait,” he says seriously.

“Damn,” I murmur before kissing him passionately, but quickly. “I can’t wait to get you in bed later.”

“That makes two of us.”

When we get to Hijack’s room, it’s set up exactly the same with Tracker and Hacker in the same seats they were sitting in this morning like they never left. Hijack dials into the video call and within minutes, everyone is on. This time, Alpha Warren is sitting beside Alpha Quirin.

“Good evening, everyone,” Hijack begins. “Just to make sure we’re all on the same page, the loan shark has been paid off. Alpha Quirin now holds the note that Alpha Christer took out to blackmail Alpha Arden into the alliance agreement. We are here to talk about next steps. Alpha Cyra, I believe you needed some time to think about what you wanted to do,” he says, looking over the wall of computer screens to look at

1. me.

“I’ve had some time to think about how I want to proceed and I agree with calling the note. I want out of this alliance agreement effective immediately. I want Alpha Christer and Alpha Stellan out of the picture and I intend to contact the Council tomorrow to submit the information that the Tech Team has accumulated about my father and have him removed from his position as Alpha by this weekend.”

Everyone stares at me. Only Yorick and Warren smile, knowing where my new confidence has come from.

“Spoken like a true Alpha,” Warren says. For some reason, his praise makes me feel special, like I’ve made him proud of me. It feels like the praise that I’ve struggled to obtain from my father for years but could never achieve.

Alpha Quirin looks at Warren, then back at the monitor. “Forgive me, Alpha Cyra, but you seem much different than you did this morning. This confidence isn’t something I’ve seen in you before. Granted, I don’t know you well, but what changed since this morning?”

I smile at Alpha Warren and lift my chin. “My biggest fear was that I am not prepared to take over a pack as Alpha. I have no training or knowledge of how to do that. I spoke to Alpha Warren earlier today and he has agreed to not only teach me how to run a pack effectively, but he is also willing to manage my pack so that I can finish my year here at the Academy. He’ll train me on the weekends when I go home, and I’ll take classes and study during the week.”

“You didn’t mention this earlier,” Quirin says, raising an eyebrow at Warren.

“I was busy,” he says shrugging.

Quirin snorts, making me wonder what Warren was ‘busy‘ doing.

“Well, I can attest that you have one of the greatest mentors possible to teach you how to be the best Alpha you can be, Cyra. Congratulations.”

“Yes, congratulations,” Alpha Quirin says, getting a very menacing look on his face and rubbing his hands together excitedly. “So, do I get to pull the trigger?”

“Are you ready to go to war if that’s what it takes, Q?” Alpha Henry asks him.

“Yeah, and I’m bringing you with me. You could use the battle experience,” he says, grinning at his brother, Henry just shakes his head.

“We’ve done an assessment on the strength of Alpha Christer’s pack compared to the three of yours,” Tracker says, making all the Alphas turn

their attention to her.

“Excuse me?” Connor says.

Tracker looks at the screen. She’s an intense woman anyway, but now that intensity is warring with arrogance on her face.

“We do this sort of assessment for all of the elite fighting teams so they know what they are getting themselves into before they attack. My colleagues and I thought you would appreciate the same sort of assessment before you potentially go to war. However, if you don’t want our assistance….”
