Chapter 454 A Ring and a Misstep

Watching the scene unfold, Halbert frowned. “Tristan, don’t you think this is a little inappropriate? She’s not even married yet…”

Tristan didn’t flinch. “Madam Emilia did the same thing back then. No one thought it was inappropriate.

Ronaldo suddenly remembered Madam Emilia from more than a decade ago. Even now, the memory of her still left a deep impression on him.

Meanwhile, Eliza had already brought Nolan to his room.

He looked utterly exhausted. He had deep shadows under his eyes–proof he hadn’t rested at all.

“You should rest,” Eliza said gently. “I’ll head to the room next door.”

But just as she turned to leave, Nolan reached out and gently grabbed her arm. “Eliza.”

She stopped. “What is it?”

When she turned around, she saw that his eyes were filled with guilt.

“Do you… blame me for this?”

“Why would I blame you?” She blinked, confused.

Nolan dropped his gaze. “I… didn’t get the job done.”

At that, Eliza couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Come on, I’m not mad at you. And you’re Nolan–don’t let anyone see you looking like this.” She reached out and ruffled his hair. “I’m not mad. We’ll find the ring. I know we will.”

Back at the Foster estate…

Henry held the ring in his hand, examining it closely. “Are you sure this is the one?”

“No doubt,” his subordinate replied. “I watched Nolan go after it himself. Solara’s people showed up too, but they were too slow. I got there first and swapped the ring.”

One of his men replied, “Just like you suspected, Mr. Henry–there’s definitely something off about. this ring.”

Henry had suspected it ever since he saw Eliza wearing it. Back then, he’d kept his doubts to himself. When she went to claim Emilia’s inheritance, he’d sent someone to copy the original transaction records from when the Rivers family sold off her assets.

Sure enough, after careful investigation, they discovered that this exact ring had been bought and kept in Leaf Corp’s collection.

Hearing that, Henry let out a cold laugh. Who would’ve thought Nolan would end up giving this very ring to

Eliza?

It felt like fate was finally tipping in his favor.

“I’ll hold onto this ring myself,” Henry said coldly. “Don’t ask questions. And do not under any circumstances–tell my father. If he finds out, you know exactly what’ll happen

“Yes, sir. We won’t say a word.”

“Good. You’re dismissed.”

Once they left, Henry studied the ring again.

He’d been curious–what was so special about this piece? But after all that time staring at it, all he saw was an expensive, finely crafted ring.

But something told him it was more than that.

The next morning, Eliza and Nolan were ready to leave Solara.

They needed to return to Westbrook and pick up the investigation from there.

Tristan didn’t see them off himself, but he had Christian and Ronaldo escort them to the airport.

Halbert trailed behind at a distance, keeping his space from both Eliza and Nolan.

“You’re not coming with us?” Eliza asked again, trying one last time to get Halbert to join them.

Halbert didn’t look at her. “You two go ahead. I’ll catch the next flight.”

The truth was, he just didn’t want to be stuck on a plane with Nolan.

“Alright then,” Eliza said with a shrug. “See you later, Halbert. Bye, Ronaldo. Bye, Christian.”

She slipped her arm through Nolan’s and boarded the plane.

Tracy had also come to the airport–but after messing up so badly, she didn’t have the courage to approach anyone. She lingered in the background, watching from a distance.

Only after Eliza disappeared through the gate did Tracy finally step forward.

“Christian,” she said nervously, “do you think I should apologize to Eliza?”

Of all her brothers, Christian was the easiest to talk to–kind and patient, especially with girls.

Tracy glanced nervously at Christian.
