Lin Zhiyi briefly explained what happened.
Li Huan connected it to the police’s explanation, slightly surprised: "Is there such a coincidence in the world? What was Bai Ruoshu doing at Gong Group? The Third Young Master wasn’t even there."
"I know this." Liao Yi took out his phone, searching as he explained, "Bai Ruoshu has been with Gong Yao these past few days, can’t be more ambiguous, obviously thinking the Third Young Master is dead, so... huh? Why’s the trending topic gone?"
She spread out her phone, not even the names Bai Ruoshu and Gong Yao appeared together.
Lin Zhiyi wasn’t surprised.
"Now that the Third Young Master is back, Bai Ruoshu naturally has to plan for herself."
Li Huan looked up at the tightly closed examination room on the other side, then at Lin Zhiyi, pondering for a moment.
"Lin Zhiyi, are you saying..."
Lin Zhiyi nodded, but looked troubled.
"Hmm, but apparently others don’t believe it. After all, if Ye Feifei had stabbed a little deeper, Bai Ruoshu’s hand would be crippled."
"Plus, Bai Ruoshu and Ye Feifei don’t even know each other, not even a word exchanged, the only connection is me."
Liao Yi immediately interjected: "It’s not like you asked her to save, this..."
Unable to finish, she trailed off.
Because she realized this might seem ungrateful.
She couldn’t say it, and neither could Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi sighed: "To others, Bai Ruoshu’s injury implicates me."
Just as the words fell, before Liao Yi and Li Huan could even sigh, they were interrupted by an angry voice.
"My daughter nearly had her arm ruined because of you?"
It was Bai Ruoshu’s mother, Yang Jingwei, speaking.
"You’re also a jewelry designer; do you know how important a hand is to Ruoshu?"
"Lin Zhiyi, you went too far!"
Yang Jingwei came rushing up, raising her hand towards Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi instinctively raised her hand to block, but someone was faster.
Yang Jingwei’s hand barely lifted before it was grabbed from behind, the pain contorting her expression.
She turned to look.
"Third, Third Young Master."
"If you want to settle accounts, go to Ye Feifei." Gong Chen looked down at Yang Jingwei.
"But Lin Zhiyi admitted she implicated Ruoshu."
Yang Jingwei said, tearfully.
Gong Chen said flatly, "She didn’t hand the fork to Ye Feifei."
"..."
Yang Jingwei paused for a moment.
Lin Zhiyi wasn’t sure if it was her illusion, but Yang Jingwei’s eyes flickered slightly at the mention of the fork.
But soon, she blinked and pulled her hand back to wipe her tears.
"Third Young Master, sorry, I lost my composure."
"I’m so angry because Ruoshu was very worried about you, going to the river or waiting at Gong Group for news. Even when paparazzi spread rumors online about her and Gong Yao, she didn’t bother to care."
"Now, she’s finally waiting for your return, but then this happened..."
"As a mother, my heart aches for her."
Yang Jingwei burst into tears.
It was truly touching.
If Lin Zhiyi hadn’t seen Bai Ruoshu say the words ’condolences for your loss’ to her in the morning with her own eyes.
She would be sighing and admiring Bai Ruoshu’s deep affection.
Just as Lin Zhiyi was about to retort, Gong Chen stepped in front of her.
"Mrs. Bai, I didn’t ask you. If you’re so heartbroken, why haven’t you gone to see Miss Bai yet?"
Yang Jingwei froze her tears at the corner of her eye but hid it well, lowering her eyes and nodding, humble and gentle.
"Goodbye."
She glanced at Lin Zhiyi before leaving.
A faint scent of perfume wafted under Lin Zhiyi’s nose.
