Shadows surrounded Islinda, so thick that she couldn’t make out her own features. Where in the world was she? The last thing she remembered.... What was the last thing she remembered?
She should be panicking at this point, but Islinda couldn’t. It was strange to say this, but she felt at home in the darkness. It called to her. It was comforting.
Islinda began to walk through the darkness with no direction, nor a glimpse of what she was stepping on. It was just so dark she couldn’t see her own feet.
"Hello?" She said, her voice echoing across the darkness, "Hello? Is anyone here?"
"Princess," A voice rasped from the dark and Islinda gasped, whirling around to see who was speaking but there was nothing but darkness. However, she felt a strange sensation slither up her arm as if someone was touching her and she spun again to glimpse nothing.
"Who are you?!" Islinda yelled a little louder, looking for him. Yes, she knew that it was a "he" from his deep, rumbly voice.
"Princess," The voice echoed again and it seemed to come from everywhere so she couldn’t pinpoint his location.
Unfortunately, Islinda was getting tired of this game and she shouted to the air, "Show yourself!"
There was no response.
However, call it a sixth sense, Islinda could still sense that it was there with her.
"Or maybe you’re just a coward." She riled him on purpose and it worked.
Islinda screamed when something grabbed her face and she was looking into eyes swirling with darkness. It held her still so she couldn’t turn her head and glimpsed the rest of his face. Her heart was pounding in her throat as fear washed over her.
"Do not be afraid, I will not harm you." She winced, hearing the voice directly in her head.
"Who are you?" She asked, swallowing down the lump in her throat. There was just something about him that made shivers run down her spine.
"You would know soon, Mo gheall," He said and Islinda felt the sensation of her hair being stroked. Not that it calmed her, her anxiety rose.
"Mo gheall?" She repeated after him.
"Yes, my betrothed."
Anger surged inside of Eli and he let out a low growl. Islinda was his, so who dared to walk into her mind? What did the dark Fae show her? What had they talked about? But the most important was, why her?
Eli began to search her mind, even though he knew deep down he wouldn’t be able to find the memory. However, he pushed and pushed until Islinda whimpered in pain in her dream, only then did he stop.
He tricked her brain to calm down and gathered her into his arms, stroking her arms. Although Eli was calmer, that didn’t mean he let the case go. He would make sure Aldric followed it up and end whoever dared to touch his mate.
Yes, his mate.
The discovery was a bit shocking and Eli wanted to seal the bond quickly, sadly, he had to wait.
For starters, he was not going to tell Islinda the truth, she would probably panic and run away. And then Aldric, no, the fool would kill Islinda before he could think about it. Aldric did not want anymore weakness, a weak link, not after Tatiana. But Eli would wait patiently until he’s fallen for Islinda too.
Eli knew that was possible, what was not to like about Islinda? He trusted the bond would grow before Aldric realized they were mates and by then, it was too late. Eli smiled slowly, no one was taking away his mate.
