Fergus hopefully wished he’d learn something more about these two. His intuition had been suspecting their sudden ’coming home together’. Something was off– he knew it.
He could almost feel it now, he was getting the affirmations.
"What do you want to do now?" Cullen’s whispered but Fergus heard it all.
Fergus leaned closer, his entire being focused on the conversation unfolding on the other side of the door.
"What do you mean?" Kylo’s response lacked conviction.
"Well," Cullen chuckled in a tone that irritated Fergus, making him wonder if drinking Cullen’s blood wouldn’t make him nauseous.
"We are alone, aren’t we?"
"No," Kylo snapped after Cullen said before Kylo cut him off.
"Don’t even think about it."
Fergus’s smirk widened. This was getting good. What were these idiots talking about?
"Don’t even think about it?" Cullen mused, frustration evident in his voice. "Going back on our agreement already, are we, Kylo? Did you forget our little deal?"
Intrigue took over Fergus’s features.
Agreement?
What agreement?
He desperately hoped they’d elaborate.
"I didn’t agree to anything," Kylo retorted, his disapproval obvious in his dismissal tone.
Ugh. Such a good boy, Kylo was; Fergus thought internally with a sinister smile. He really loved messing around with the good ones until he dug out the darkness in them. Until the darkness took over them and light could be found no more in them.
He’d do the same to Kylo by all means. But now, he needed to focus on the conversation...
Cullen scoffed. "Don’t play coy, Kylo. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Or have you forgotten about the little favor you owe me?"
Frustration bled through Kylo’s next words. "I haven’t forgotten, but you haven’t exactly held up your end of the bargain either."
"What are you talking about?" Cullen feigned innocence. "I’ve been doing my part."
"Doing your part?" Kylo scoffed. "Your part is to find out what the hell is going on with Isleen! The woman’s practically a different person, and you haven’t found out a damn thing!"
Well, well, well. Kylo struck a deal with Cullen to spy on Isleen. Now, that was new. Maybe Kylo wasn’t as dumb as he thought; Fergus noted to himself, enjoying this little conversation he was eavesdropping on.
He was suddenly glad he didn’t go with Isleen. He wanted to think but this had after all given him more than enough clarity.
You expect me to follow her everywhere?" Cullen interjected. "I have a job, you know. I can only pick up scraps from what I can learn when I’m home with her."
It fazed Fergus that the annoying and stupid Cullen could be this serious. Now, what was Cullen expecting Kylo to give him in return?
"What is stopping you from following her around when you’re home with her then? You cannot follow her around during work hours, what is stopping you from doing so outside of work?"
"Ugh, you’re sick," Kylo groaned. "Why are you so obsessed with me?"
"That, my dear Kylo, is what they call love at first sight," Cullen replied with a click of his fingers. "The moment you walked into this house with Isleen— I was smitten. Don’t you know? They call you the most good-looking guy in the pack. I have a whole collection of pictures of you from when you were little up until now. I love you, Kylo."
Fergus’s stomach churned.
Love?
This Cullen character was a complete and utter degenerate. If it were left to Fergus, he’d say it was lust. After all, Cullen did say he only wanted to satisfy his fantasy and move on when they both found their mate since they couldn’t be together.
He wouldn’t want to enjoy Cherul for a while and let her go later. He loved her. She was his until she was no more.
Until Kylo captured her and handed her over to his assface father. Those two, he had plans for them. Deep agonizing plans.
But for now, he needed to continue to listen to the conversation between these two and watch his enemies dig their own graves.
He bit his own tongue and swallowed the blood, shutting his eyes.
Tasty.
He was hungry. He needed to feed. Soon. He needed a target. A befitting one.
Kylo’s next remark broke Fergus’s thoughts and he almost burst into a fit of laughter. Sadly, he needed to hold himself back.
