Mated To My Boyfriend's Dad novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110: _ Am I dead?

Agony ripped through me as the vampire’s claws tore into my flesh. A scream tore from my throat, choked by the vice grip around my chest. His grip on my shoulder tightened, the skeletal fingers digging deep, drawing more than a scream from my throat.

Blood.

They gushed down in plentiful amounts. I forgot how to breathe in that instant and my lids began to shut when a voice shouted from what seemed like a distance to me.

If it was close or far, I had no idea. I was too beat to be sure of anything at the moment.

"Leave her alone!" Hollered the voice. "All three of them, let them be!"

The vampire holding me recoiled, his head snapping towards the source of the voice. To my greatest surprise, his grip slackened for a brief moment around my neck, just long enough for me to stumble free. Then, with a growl, he threw me aside and scurried off into the shadows.

I crumpled onto the ground, gasping for breath, the pain of a searing fire radiating from my wound. This was PAIN in capital letters.

W-whose voice was that?

Through my blurry eyes, I saw Liam rush towards me. His small figure seemed dwarfed by the chaos around him.

"N-no, Liam. Hide. Go." I muttered, struggling to push out the words but they came out as a whisper.

Behind Liam, Cullen appeared with a face etched with worry. Relief washed over me the

moment I set my eyes on those two despite my fright for Liam for coming closer.

It was a sweet wave amidst the agony gripping at my every fiber. My son. He was safe. My little boy was safe.

"Mommy!" Liam cried, throwing himself onto me. He was trembling, tears streaming down his face. "You’re hurt. You’re going to be okay, right?"

I winced as he squeezed me tight, but managed a weak smile. "I will be, honey. Just need to relax a little. I’m so glad you’re alright."

Take a deep breath with me."

I focused on my ragged breathing, trying to ignore the throbbing in my shoulder. Liam held me close, his small form somehow providing me with a surprising sense of comfort.

Oh, my little boy.

Briefly, I spotted Cullen sprinting us too.

"Cullen," I managed through gritted teeth, "check on Kylo and Lupe. They were attacked."

Concern flooded his eyes as he knelt beside me. "Are you sure you’re okay? A-and did you say Kylo is attacked?"

"I’ll be fine," I lied, my voice wearing thin. "Just go. They need your help."

Even though I told him to go, I never expected the speed at which Cullen took off. Finally, with a worried grunt, he took off towards where I’d last seen Kylo and Lupe fighting.

Liam who had sensed my fading consciousness tightened his hold on my hands. "Don’t talk anymore, Mommy. Just rest."

I nodded, wondering why my healing was taking longer than expected. Why was the Moon Goddess punishing me so much?

Perhaps, those laws weren’t just myths after all. If I was given a second chance, if Kylo, Lupe, Liam, Cullen, and Gamma Rhett were safe at the end of all of this, I promised inwardly that I’d follow all of her wishes.

This couldn’t be real. It was surreal. Like a postcard come to life.

I pushed myself to my feet, my body surprisingly pain-free. Where was all my wound?

I was dressed in a bright yellow bikini which was ridiculously inadequate for a war zone and also a stark contrast to the dark clothes I remembered wearing before the attack.

A pair of oversized sunglasses sat perched on my nose, blocking the glare of the sun. A smile spread across my face, a surreal sense of peace washing over me.

Why was I smiling?

I had just found myself in an unfamiliar surrounding and an unbelievable one at that, considering how badly hurt I and everyone I cared about were.

Surprise jolted me, and I instinctively reached down to adjust my nonexistent bikini bottom. However, I was met with a surprise.

A gasp escaped my lips as I turned, my eyes widening in disbelief. A man stood a few feet away, his physique sculpted to perfection. He was clad in white swim trunks that accentuated his tanned skin, and his windblown hair danced in the breeze.

The scene felt surreal. It was almost like a figment of a feverish dream. Yet, everything felt so real - the warmth of the sun on my skin, the soft sand beneath my bare feet - everything felt as real as my surprise.

I took an uncertain step forward, drawn to the man by an invisible force. It was almost as though I craved the beauty of his form.

Something in me was already deducing his person, but seeing was believing. Wait – was this heaven? Am I dead?
