Irresistible Boss Succumbing to Your Touch (Maria Anita) novel Chapter 485

Sabrina’s POV

It was almost time for that damn divorce hearing, and Flavian's idiot father still hadn't told me what I should do. The only thing he'd said was that I should be prepared to either attend the hearing or not.

Thinking about it now, I shouldn't have told him that I was called to the police station. After I went there and that female detective asked me all those questions, Cesar started changing his behavior towards me. But what else could I do? I couldn't solve this problem alone - I hadn't created it alone, and I knew I couldn't skip going to the police station.

I was already nervous, pacing back and forth in the hotel lobby - I've never had much patience for waiting. I decided to call him; I was getting anxious and didn't know what to do anymore. Since he was in this with me, he had to talk to me.

"What is it, Sabrina? I'm busy," Cesar answered with his usual rudeness.

"You're always busy, Cesar!" It was the absolute truth - ever since I had known him, which was forever, he had always said he was busy.

"That's because I work, unlike you who lives off daddy's money and occasionally scams rich husbands." Cesar was truly a jerk.

He'd always made it clear to me that he would only support me as long as I could provide him some benefit - in this case, keeping Flavian in line. And everything was going very well; I got the marriage, Flavian was quietly under his father's wing, until he decided to think for himself and joined the police force. That was when my days as queen came to an end. Cesar pressured me until I couldn't take it anymore and started pressuring Flavian. The worst part was that I failed miserably - I was sure Flavian ate from the palm of my hand, so I made him choose between me or the police, and he chose the police.

Then Cesar told me to follow through with the divorce story because Flavian would give in, but he didn't. We signed the divorce papers and Cesar, once again, guaranteed he would fix things, but I had to go far away so Flavian would miss me, and I did. I lived quite well in London until my money ran out and my father ran into financial difficulties; that was when I started depending on Cesar. I made a deal with him that when he called, I should return. I didn't even want to come back - I never liked Flavian, he was boring, cute but boring, too straight-laced, and I wanted to enjoy life. But business was business, as my father always said, and I had to come back. Oh, what a regret!

I was here obeying Cesar's orders and putting up with Flavian's tantrums. Oh, sure, there was also the humiliation from that demonic little group that threw me out on the street in my underwear, and the lice that still kept me up at night.

"Cesar, what am I going to do? The hearing is almost here, you told me you would handle everything, and I don't even have a lawyer," I complained. I was genuinely nervous, and he needed to keep his promises.

"God, you're so useless!" Cesar complained. "Look, your father sent a lawyer to meet you in the hotel lobby. You'll go and do exactly what the lawyer tells you to do. And don't you dare mention my name."

"Sabrina, I'm sick of your brilliant ideas. Everything was going fine until you decided to make Flavian choose between you and his profession. Then you went ahead with that stupid divorce, even when I told you not to. Now, my daughter, you're going to do what I say, or you'll have to put those princess hands of yours to work, and since you don't know how to do anything and never graduated from anything, you won't get a good job," my father was fuming with anger.

"Daaaad..." I whined.

"I've told you what you're going to do. Now wait for the lawyer." My father hung up on me too, another one hanging up on me.

Soon the lawyer arrived and advised me not to make a fuss. He would try to avoid the divorce but would not push too hard since the investigation into the falsified documents could cause me serious trouble. Of course, Cesar knew the bomb would explode, but it would explode in my lap since the only thing he did was tell me what to do and give me the money - there was nothing that could link him to it. Then the lawyer gave me a message from my father telling me to keep quiet because Cesar would not help me and had cut off all support to the family. I already knew that rat would jump ship as soon as it started sinking; I just did not think it would be so soon.

Yeah, maybe staying quiet really was the best option. I would do what my father ordered, accept what this lawyer said, and return to Bellwood quietly. There, together with my father, I would think of a solution. But I would get revenge on Cesar, that I would.
