Flano stood at the entrance of the casino, quietly complaining to his companion.
"I really hate standing guard at the entrance! Because it’s absolutely stupid! Is there anyone who dares to come here and cause trouble?"
His companion, also a Divine Guard, shrugged upon hearing Flano’s words.
"Well, since we’ve been assigned to stand guard here, let’s do a good job! It’s much better than the guys at Paladon; I heard they haven’t rested for two days and nights, and they’re setting up control around the city!"
Flano smirked at this, "That’s the best news I’ve heard lately. Just thinking about how unlucky Paladon is makes me want to laugh!"
The other guard chuckled but didn’t say anything.
But Flano was clearly not willing to let it go, he glanced around, saw everything was calm, then leaned over mysteriously and asked quietly.
"Hey, what do you think the Divine King is planning by suddenly ordering a city-wide curfew and having us keep a close watch on the people entering the city, especially young human boys? Is something big about to happen?"
Seeing Flano’s curious expression, the guard’s face turned stern.
"Flano, some things should be asked, and some shouldn’t. Whatever the Divine King is planning isn’t something we can speculate about."
Flano looked embarrassed, "I’m just curious!"
"You better swallow your curiosity, otherwise if something happens, nobody can save you!"
"Alright, alright! I got it, okay! How boring!"
Flano muttered as he turned back to his post, but he still felt very curious.
Just the day before yesterday, the Divine King suddenly issued two decrees. First, he ordered the closing of the entire city, forbidding entry and exit.
The second was to conduct a citywide search, focusing on young human boys.
Once these two orders were issued, the city was in chaos.
Many Divine Guards turned the city upside down but couldn’t find the person the Divine King was looking for.
Yet the atmosphere didn’t relax, instead, it became even more tense.
Even casinos, exclusively for the pleasure of the deities, heightened their security levels.
Flano was posted at the casino entrance under such circumstances.
For someone accustomed to laziness, this kind of work was incredibly dull and tasteless.
Which is why he was full of complaints,
but after being admonished by his companion, he had to bury those complaints within.
Just as Flano was silently grumbling.
From the darkness far down the street, two figures slowly emerged.
Seeing someone appear, Flano and the other guard were both startled.
Because before these two figures appeared, they clearly felt the entire street was empty.
But almost in the blink of an eye, these two people appeared out of nowhere.
Such a strange scene naturally made their hearts tighten.
"Who are you?" Flano shouted sternly.
No one answered, the two figures continued walking in the darkness unhurriedly.
Flano and his companion exchanged glances, seeing the seriousness in each other’s eyes, then the guard nodded slightly at Flano.
Flano understood this was a signal for him to go inside and report, so he turned to leave.
But just at that moment, the two figures stepped out of the darkness into the light.
Walking in front was a young boy in white, followed by a black-clad twin-tailed girl.
Even in such a quiet and sinister night, this pairing was still pleasing to the eye.
But Flano and his companion didn’t feel pleased at all; on the contrary, their eyes widened and their bodies slightly trembled.
Because this boy was precisely the person the Divine King was personally ordering them to find!
This was a huge problem!
