Chapter 3999: Be The Scariest Monster! I

The sharp light of transportation dissolved around them like morning mist, revealing the familiar golden expanse of the Early Veiled Shore.

Noah’s feet touched the warm sands with the satisfaction of one returning home after a journey through existential chaos, but what greeted his eyes made even his enhanced perception pause in appreciation.

The massive corpse of the Primordial Death lay compressed upon the golden shore like a monument to impossible victory!

Its skeletal form, which had towered over armies of Living Existences mere moments ago, now rested in defeated stillness.

The bones themselves seemed to pulse with residual deathly authority, creating distortions in the air above them where existence itself remained uncertain about accommodating such concentrated ending.

But it was not alone in its repose. Scattered across the pristine sands lay thousands of bone fragments, pieces of otherworldly flesh, and crystallized segments of what had once been Dead Existences.

They gleamed under the Shore’s light like macabre treasures, each piece radiating the particular wrongness that marked beings who had existed in states of perpetual termination.

These were the fruits of his Festival of War, the one percent that had been automatically claimed from every elimination enhanced by his orchestrated blessing!

Moiraine stood beside him, her eyes sweeping across the grotesque bounty with an expression that shifted from amazement to concern. The golden light caught the worry lines forming around her eyes as she turned to face him.

"Sir," she began, the honorific carrying its usual warmth despite the seriousness in her tone, "was it... truly okay to reveal yourself in such a manner? Entities like Schrodinger..." She paused, seeming to search for words adequate to convey the magnitude of what concerned her. "They are extremely terrifying. Beyond what most can comprehend."

HUUM!

Noah’s lips curved into a smile as he began walking toward the massive corpse, his bare feet leaving glowing impressions in the sand.

Each step felt like a declaration of intent, a refusal to be cowed by the scope of powers that existed beyond his current reach.

"I stopped living in fear many, many months ago," he said. "Fear is a luxury I can no longer afford, not when every moment of hesitation could mean countless possible futures lost." He paused beside a particularly large fragment of Dead Existence bone, nudging it thoughtfully with his foot. "But I am curious about this Schrodinger. What makes him so particularly terrifying among beings who can already reshape existence with their thoughts?"

Moiraine’s expression grew serious, her gaze drifting toward the vibrant waters that lapped at the Shore’s edge.

In the distance, she could see Ruination seated in deep meditation, her form wreathed in crimson-gold radiance as she processed the gifts Noah had bestowed.

The Infiniverse floated nearby, multicolored jewels across her skin pulsing in harmonious patterns.

The Sacred Totems rose like monuments to achievement, their crystalline surfaces catching and reflecting light in ways that created new colors with each observation.

She took in all of this...this sanctuary of power and potential, before beginning to speak, her voice taking on the cadence of someone sharing secrets that few were privileged to know.

"Schrodinger," she began, "is not merely powerful in the way other Dukes are powerful. His connection to Living Paradoxes runs so deep that some theorize he predates the current understanding of what Paradox even means. There are whispers...never confirmed, always denied when asked directly, that he used to live as an attendant of an Early Creature inside an Early Veiled Shore." She paused, letting the weight of that possibility settle. "Not visit, not observe, but actually lived within the Shore of an Early Creature."

...!

The wind picked up slightly, carrying with it the scent of the sacred herbs growing in their plots, and Moiraine continued, her voice growing more animated as she warmed to her subject.

"His habits make no sense to anyone who tries to understand him through normal logic. He frequently takes on the visage of a beggar...not as disguise or infiltration, but seemingly because he genuinely enjoys it. He’ll go to mortal worlds, worlds so insignificant they don’t even register on most maps of existence, and simply... live there. Sometimes for years, sometimes for centuries, just existing as a homeless wanderer beside muddy roads."

She shook her head, hair catching the light as it moved. "Most think he’s insane, or playing games beyond their comprehension. He rarely makes moves...eons can pass without him taking any action that others can perceive. But when he does act..." Her voice dropped to barely above a whisper. "Every time Schrodinger has made a deliberate move, it has resulted in profound changes across existence itself. Entire Folds have been restructured. The balance of power between Living Existences has shifted. Things that were thought impossible suddenly become inevitable."

...!

Noah absorbed this information with the careful attention it deserved, nodding slowly as pieces of a vast puzzle began arranging themselves in his mind.
