Three Years After They Abandoned Me novel Chapter 144

Stella couldn’t help but laugh at his actions. Jordan asked, Don’t you think I’m childish?

Of course not,Stella replied. She hooked her pinky with his and pressed her thumb down to seal their promise.

Stella sat quietly, gazing out the window. Eleanor’s passing had hit her harder than she could ever have imagined. But she knew that before Eleanor left, she would never have wanted Stella to fall apart because of her.

Eleanor had always hoped Stella would keep living her life, and as long as she was alive, to make the most of every single day.

Looking out the window, Stella spoke to Eleanor in her heart. She thought, Grandma, don’t worry about me. I promise I won’t lose myself because of this. I’ll keep living well, carrying your hopes with me every step of the way.

When they got home, Mary was still up. Stella wanted to tell her she didn’t need the fussing. But remembering Eleanor’s passing was also hard on Mary, she decided to let Mary help. Maybe this would make Mary feel a bit better inside.

Instead of diving into her investigation, Stella just flopped onto her bed and fell asleep. She knew she had to get some rest and recover her strength before she could deal with whatever came next.

Early the next morning. Stella had just finished getting ready when Jordan came over to call her for breakfast.

Stella opened the door and, seeing how eager he looked, she smiled and said, I promised you last night. Of course I wouldn’t break my promise.

Seeing that she looked much better than before, Jordan relaxed, smiled and said, Come on, let’s eat.Stella nodded.

As they ate, Stella felt heaviness in her heart. Eleanor had only been home for a few days before she passed, but Stella had already grown used to having her around again.

Tears slipped down her cheeks before she could stop them, but she quickly wiped them away. Looking at Jordan, Stella said, Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to eat properly.

Behind them, Mary secretly wiped her tears, trying not to be noticed. Maybe she couldn’t take it anymore, so she ran to a corner to cry. Stella didn’t comfort her. Everyone needed to vent sometimes, and letting it out might help Mary feel better.

Jordan looked at Stella. She appeared a bit more dressed than usual. Normally, she only wore a touch of makeup, but today her makeup was a bit heavier; still tasteful, not overdone.

She actually looked even better than she usually did, which showed she’d worked things out in her heart. Seeing that, Jordan relaxed.

If you need anything during the day, just tell me anytime,Jordan said.

Okay,Stella replied. Stellà never bothered with formalities around Jordan.

Stella didn’t go to the office right away. Instead, she went to the hospital first. Strangely enough, after a few days of treatment, Max’s condition had stabilized significantly. He still hadn’t woken up, but things were looking better.

Andrew, who wasn’t as badly hurt, could already talk, though he was still having a hard time walking. When he saw Stella, his face was full of

anger.

Stella, leaving us in this place makes you an unfilial daughter. Hurry up and get us transferred back right now,Andrew snapped.

Stella said, Transfer you back? Do you have any clue how much that’ll cost me? I’m already spending enough just to keep you here, and it’s hurting my wallet as it is. Why should I shell out even more to transfer you back?

Chapter 144

You should be grateful you even have a hospital to treat you right now. Your precious daughter, Anna, is off with Monroe now. Has she even come to see you once?

And by the way, she’s broken off her engagement with Lionel. He’s left the hospital and is taking over the family business.

But I heard the Quinn family is in bad shape; they’re on the verge of going bankrupt. If you go back there, who’s going to take care of you? Don’t forget, you were kicked out of there in the first place.

Andrew looked like he wanted to argue, but as he remembered how they’d been kicked out back then, the words just died in his throat.

But that’s not what I came here to talk about today. Eleanor passed away,Stella said. Even though she was doing much better, just bringing it up still made her heart ache.

Andrew was stunned, and it hit him. Stella, you’re out of your mind! Eleanor was so good to you, yet you tried to hurt her?

I swear I’ll get justice for her; even if I have to take you down myselfAs he said this, Andrew struggled to get up.

But his body just wouldn’t cooperate; after the doctors examined him, they said he’d be confined to bed for a while before he could move again. No matter how hard he tried to move, it was no use.

Stella didn’t step back. She just stood there, watching him with a faint smile. Andrew, no offense, but why not try getting up? Look at you- you can’t even get out of bed. What’s the point of all that talk?

Andrew kept struggling, but as soon as the monitors started beeping, he didn’t dare move a muscle anymore.

I’m nothing like you people. I’d never hurt Eleanor. As for who did it, I don’t know yet. I’m still hunting for the real culprit. But they’d better pray it’s not Anna, because if I find out she killed Eleanor, she’ll pay for it,Stella said.

Stella’s eyes were dangerously sharp, almost terrifying. Andrew glared at her, his gaze unwavering. No way. Anna was never as close to Eleanor as you were, but she would never, ever hurt Eleanor.

Stella said, I don’t have any proof yet, but just wait and see. If it really is Anna, and if she could kill Eleanor today, she could just as easily turn you on tomorrow.

Well, you really raised a piece of work, your own daughter, willing to hurt her own family. That’s just messed up; even animals know better than to betray their own blood.

Andrew looked like he still wanted to make a fuss, but Stella had no interest in arguing with him anymore. Instead, something else came to her mind.

Stella said, And one more thing. Your wife, Fiona? She ran off with that neighbor you always looked down on, the one who’s been crushing on her for years.

You don’t know how well he’s treating her. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up together eventually. Wait, did you two even get divorced yet? Wow, is she about to cheat on you? That’d be something.

Stella couldn’t help but laugh as she said this. See? I don’t even have to do anything. Your family manages to create its own drama. It just goes to show; this is what you call karma.
