Chapter 129

Jordan put the files he was holding down, but he didn’t put them away. He left them where he could see them. He wasn’t about to let anyone who’d hurt Stella get off easy.

His phone buzzed with a new message. He glanced at it and then stepped out of the room. Just then, Stella came out of Eleanor’s room.

Their eyes met. Stella naturally looked shy. When she saw Jordan, she remembered what had happened earlier, and her cheeks flushed bright red.

Jordan, she said softly. Jordan gave a quick nod.

Seeing Stella hurry toward her room, Jordan quickly followed. Stella, I’ve got a message for you.”

Stella turned and looked at his phone as he handed it over. It was a message about Fiona. Stella didn’t care what happened to Fiona after all that, but since Jordan wanted her to see it, she read it anyway.

At the end, she let out a soft laugh. I never thought anyone would care about her. But whoever saved her was kind. I’m sure it means something. I wonder how she feels after knowing her daughter ran off.

You want her to know?Jordan asked. Stella looked at him in surprise.

If you want me to tell her, I can pass it along anytime,Jordan said.

Stella smiled. Why not? She deserves to know what kind of person her favoritedaughter is.”

Leave it to me,Jordan said, and then went off to handle it.

Stella was completely caught off guard. It seemed like whenever she casually mentioned something, Jordan would immediately take action without any hesitation.

She thought about what her grandma had said and frowned a little. Could that be true?

Stella went back to her room, but she didn’t go to bed right away. Her room had a separate workspace which was set up just for her.

Jordan set up a private room for her to work in and told her she could decorate it any way she wanted, But Stella felt kind of awkward about it, so she never really used it.

Jordan treated her well. The room was pretty big, with lots of space, so he made a little area just for her work. Stella liked it a lot.

The space was decorated in green tones, which felt fresh and natural, putting her in a better mood. She pulled out her phone and started digging into Anna’s situation.

Anna had been picked up right outside the hospital. Stella saw the license plate and did some digging. It turned out to belong to the Johnson family from Seavale.

The Johnsonseldest son had been after Anna, but he wasn’t as handsome as Lionel, so Anna never considered him. Besides, the Quinn family and the Johnson family were about the same socially. After some thought, Anna decided to go with Lionel, not the Johnsons.

The Quinn family was struggling, and Anna must have known that. Plus, the Quinn family hadn’t helped her much. Trapped, Anna had no choice but to accept the Johnson family’s eldest son.

Stella sneered, thinking, Does she believe that just because she’s got the backing of some big family, I can’t do anything to her?

Sooner or later, the twin sisters would cross paths again. When that happened, Stella would make sure Anna knew that even if she was

clinging to the Johnson son, if Stella wanted to deal with her, it’d be easy.

The next day, Stella headed to work. Suddenly, someone reached out and blocked her car. It was Emily. Stella didn’t hesitate. Iit her, and then go around.

The driver paused for a second but followed the order. Emily got hit by the car. Just when she couldn’t believe it, the car reversed a bit and

then drove around her to leave.

Emily tried to shout, but no matter how hard she yelled, it was no use. The car was already gone. Stella hadn’t been at the office long before the front desk called her, saying a woman named Emily was there to see her.

Stella smirked. Emily must be trying to cause trouble. Let her in,Stella said.

Emily walked right up to Stella as soon as she came in and started yelling. Stella, are you serious? Your dad and brother are seriously ill and need treatment at a top hospital. You took them there. Are you trying to give up on them?

They’ve done so much for you. They gave you life. How can you be so ungrateful and heartless?

Stella laughed at Emily’s angry rant. Emily, do you even hear what you’re saying? They did so much for me? What exactly did they do? They always favored Anna since we were kids. They didn’t care if I lived or died.

I transferred them out. I didn’t abandon them, did I? At least I made sure doctors kept them alive. What about Anna?

If I’m right, you haven’t been able to get a hold of her lately. I heard she ran off because the Hayes family couldn’t pay their bills. Anna is the real ungrateful and heartless one.
