June wasn’t about to show any mercy. She said, “Did I ask you to give me all that? Besides, isn’t it normal for a daughter who’s doing well to help out her family?

“Now stop standing there. If the neighbors see you like this, it’ll be so embarrassing for me.”

Fiona couldn’t believe her ears. She asked, “Mom, what did you just say?”

June snapped, “I said you need to leave right now. Everyone knows I have a capable daughter. If they find out you got kicked out by your family and came crawling back, how am I supposed to hold my head up?

“Go–you’re making me lose face.” She looked like she couldn’t even stand the sight of Fiona.

Fiona begged, “Mom, please, just let me in. I swear I’ll stay inside and won’t cause any trouble these next few days. I really have nowhere else to go.”

June insisted, “Go wherever you want, but you’re not staying in this house.”

Fiona never in her wildest dreams thought her own mother could turn her away like this. Then, as if something occurred to her, she asked, “Did Stella call you? Is that why you won’t let me in? Because she told you not to?”

June scoffed, “I don’t even have her number. She’s even more of an embarrassment than you are. If she dares to show up, I wouldn’t even let

her step through the door–she’d just taint the very air of our family.“,

Fiona had still been clinging to a sliver of hope, but after hearing June say that, she finally realized what kind of person June truly was.

She said, “Fine, if you won’t let me in, then at least give me some money. I’ve been sending you 30 thousand every month on time. Over all these years, the total I’ve sent you must be several million, if not tens of millions.

“I’m not asking for all of it back; just give me 300 thousand and we’ll call it even. I swear I’ll never come back to embarrass you again.”

June stared at Fiona like she’d just heard the most ridiculous thing ever. She exclaimed, “What? You want money? There’s no money for you. Just go already can’t you hear the neighbors gossiping?” She then walked over and pushed Fiona.

Fiona was like a candle in the wind, ready to topple at the slightest breeze–one little shove and she’d go down. She fell to the ground and just lay there, making no effort to get up anymore.

June was so frustrated she could barely stand it. She pointed at Fiona and snapped, “Get up. If you don’t, I’ll find a way to deal with you.”

Fiona wasn’t refusing to get up–she simply couldn’t. After being beaten so badly, not having a single bite to eat, and standing for so long just now, she was completely drained of strength.

Seeing that Fiona still wasn’t responding, June hurriedly flung the door open, calling for someone to throw Fiona out.

Fiona seized the chance and desperately crawled inside through the open door.

This only made June even angrier. She shouted, “Someone, get her out of here.”

No one in the Clark family wanted Fiona back. Seeing her looking half–dead, they figured she might just drop dead any minute–and if she

died in their house, it’d be nothing but bad luck. So someone hurried out and hauled Flona away.

Flona could only move her mouth now, and she kept shouting, “Let me

She didn’t even have the strength to struggle.

Someone asked, “Ma’am, where should we dump her?”

June looked around, then pointed to the nearby garbage pile and said, “Just throw her there.”

“Mom,” Fiona gasped in disbelief.

June acted like she hadn’t even heard Fiona. She urged, “Just hurry up and throw her. Don’t let anyone see–this is so humiliating” With that. she hurried back inside without a second glance.

Fiona could only watch helplessly as all the Clarks went back inside and quickly locked the door behind them. She stared in disbelief at the

closed door.

She thought, ‘Are these my family? I spent so much money on them, even let my home fall apart, and this is how they treat me?‘ She finally

broke down and started wailing, her cries echoing in the air.

The garbage pile was full of every kind of nasty, rotten trash, and the stench was so bad it made Fiona want to give up on life right then and

there.

She struggled to crawl out of the heap, but by the time she made it, she was covered head to toe in filth–she looked miserable, a total wreck.

Stella, who had been watching the whole thing unfold, turned to Jordan and said, “Let’s go.”

Jordan nodded.

As the car started to pull away, Fiona seemed to realize it was Jordan’s car. She yelled out, “Jordan, don’t go. I’m Fiona. Where are you going?

Don’t leave me.”

But the car just kept driving, quickly disappearing from sight.

Fiona could only watch helplessly as the car vanished without a trace. She wanted to cry, but found herself too numb for tears. She screamed inwardly, ‘Why is this happening to me? Why?‘

Inside the car, Eleanor held Stella’s hand tightly.

Stella did feel a bit of vindication seeing Fiona finally get what she deserved, but more than anything, she just felt sad.
