Chapter 93 Backstabbed
“What’s wrong, are you cold?” Louis asked, noticing her shiver.

“No, no.” Freya shook her head like a rattle drum. “Probably just a little dehydrated these past few days. I’ll drink more water, it’s nothing.”
It definitely had nothing to do with Louis brushing against her. She wasn’t made of glass or something. A little touch wasn’t going to shatter her.
“Cut back on the snacks and you’ll be fine.”
A knife straight to the chest–Freya’s expression turned dark. Aiden glanced between the two of them. Seeing Louis wasn’t paying attention to him, he immediately darted off toward Freya’s bedroom. If he didn’t get out now, who knew when Louis might aim that knife his way. He still wanted to cat snacks later.
“I didn’t!” Freya fired back in protest, only to be met with Louis’s retreating back and a deadpan reply: “The trash gets taken out every day. There’s no way we produce that much garbage.”
Damn it!
Freya slapped the back of her own hand. How could she have forgotten that? But seriously–Louis was always busy, always holed up in his room. How did he still manage to keep tabs on the living room trash?
“Less junk food, more water. Get to work,” came Louis’s voice from the balcony, not even turning around.
Fine. It’s just snacks. So what if she had some? It wasn’t even his money. And even if she did eat them–what of it? Worst case scenario, she’d just give Aiden fewer treats from now on.
Freya’s heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean? What was weird about it?”
“I don’t know how to describe it, but it kinda felt like you were looking at him like he was some kind of delicious food, and you were starving.”
“Oh, I get it now. My dad used to look at my mom that way. You’re into my uncle, aren’t you? Like, totally head over heels?”
What the hell was he talking about?
“How would you even know something like that? I am not!” Freya couldn’t bring herself to admit she planned to write Louis into her new novel, so that was all she could say.
“C’mon, I get it. You girls are always shy about this stuff. But don’t worry–my uncle wouldn’t mind. You two are married anyway, so there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s normal to like each other in a marriage, right?”
Aiden gave her shoulder a reassuring pat like a little adult, wearing an expression that screamed “you don’t have to say anything -I know.” It was so ridiculously cute that Freya almost burst out laughing.
