Waylon turned his head and gave the woman who’d spoken a half–smile, half–smirk look–his eyes were tinged with coldness. The woman met his gaze and inexplicably shivered.

“Got it. No problem, Louis. Don’t worry. Yeah, they’re all with me. It’s fine if you’re not coming–we know you’re busy. Let us know if you need anything.” Waylon held the phone loosely, occasionally responding while the others spoke. Nearby, Baylon and Quinton exchanged subtle glances filled with quiet concern.

When the call ended, Waylon shrugged. “Louis said he’s not coming tonight. Seems like something came up.”

Baylon pouted. “I finally get back and he doesn’t even want to see me.” It sounded like a casual complaint, but there was a trace of worry in his voice. Suddenly, he turned to the woman who had spoken earlier. “What was that about? Sounded like you had something to say about Louis?”

He didn’t even need to ask. It was obvious she’d heard rumors about Louis‘ fall from grace. Hearing Louis‘ voice over the phone had startled her into speaking without thinking. But the irritation in Baylon’s tone was clear.

The woman quickly shook her head. “No, no, of course not. People like us wouldn’t dare bother Mr. Louis. It’s just–I’ve heard of him for so long, and hearing his voice out of nowhere surprised me.”

Baylon said coldly, “Hope that’s all it is.”

“Alright, since Louis isn’t coming and he’s clearly tied up, let’s call it a night,” Quinton said as he stood, stretching with an air of laziness.

Waylon stretched his arms and stomped his feet a little. “Yeah, time to go. Sitting this long, my back’s killing me.”

“I want to go check on Louis. You guys coming?” Baylon hesitated a moment, then asked.

Meanwhile, Louis had just hung up. His brow was slightly furrowed as he thought of Baylon, who had just returned. He shook his head.

He had originally planned to meet the guys after finishing up work early. But unexpectedly, a few urgent matters came up, and by the time he was done, it was already past seven. If he went to see them now, he’d be home very late.

After a long moment of hesitation, he decided to go home first.

Catching up with his friends wasn’t urgent. Baylon had returned safely and nothing had happened. The boys were with him.

he’d be fine. On the other hand, Freya was probably already waiting for him.

Freya had been waiting for a while. Louis had said he’d be back late, but hadn’t given a specific time. Usually, they ate dinner around six–thirty, and at the latest, seven. She didn’t know if “late” meant just a little later than usual, so she’d made dinner and had everything ready by seven.
