“Of course, I have something to say. To be honest, you may look decent, but you have neither family background nor capability. Louis had to marry you it’s really wronged. I know that Mr. Edward arranged the marriage to repay a debt of gratitude, but after all these years, you haven’t given him a child or helped him in his career. All you do is shop and play nothing else you do, do you not feel even a little ashamed?”
Freya cut her off. “May I ask, who exactly are you to Louis?”
Victoria lifted her chin proudly. “Louis and I grew up together. He treats me exceptionally well. If it weren’t for you, we would have been together long ago.”
Freya searched her memory for a long time but found nothing related to Victoria.
“But I’ve never even heard of you?”
“Isn’t this nonsense, Do you think Louis would ever mention me in front of you?”
Oh. If she really is his childhood friend, it makes sense that Louis wouldn’t bring her up. First, they aren’t close, and second, he isn’t the type to gossip.
Freya nodded. “Alright, so what’s your point in coming to me?”
Freya, however, simply shook her head.
“If this were truly Louis’s decision, I would have no problem with it. But if it’s only your idea, then let me ask you, before I married Louis, were the two of you ever in a relationship? Did he love you?”
Victoria had just taken a sip of water stiffened. “That doesn’t matter. He’s not good at expressing himself. Besides, he doesn’t love you. I can help him, whereas you are nothing but dead weight. I’m a hundred times better suited for him than you are.”
“You’re wrong.” Freya shook her head again. “Maybe I don’t know Louis very well, but I do know that he would never accept your father’s help so easily, especially not when it comes with the condition of marrying you. You think convincing your father to help him is a good thing, but you haven’t considered that if Louis rebuilds his career through your father’s support, how will he ever establish his own standing again? He will forever be known as a man who relied on a woman to succeed.”
