Nathaniel nodded, put his arm around her and left with her. Jane and a few bodyguards all followed.

Charlie glanced at her and ignored him, just asked Curtis, “What exactly happened?”

Curtis lowered his head a bit and said respectfully, “Over at

Beachbourne, Mr. Hale always had someone watching Katrina. After Mr. Hale left the Hale’s mansion this afternoon, news came from Beachbourne that Katrina had dressed up as a maid and ran off early in the morning.”

“Does this have something to do with Katrina?” Megan asked in surprise.

Curtis glanced at her and answered, “Mr. Hale found out Katrina ran off in disguise, so he rushed to the Lumora Group where Mrs. Hale was. Who would’ve thought, as soon as he got there, someone tried to shoot and kill Mrs. Hale.”

“You mean the one who tried to shoot Iris was Katrina?” Charlie

asked.

Megan was shocked and widened her eyes.

“The guy ran away, they’re trying to catch him now, but it’s almost certain.” Curtis said.

“What?!” Megan exclaimed.

Charlie didn’t really feel that weird.

The Powell family turned out like this because Katrina must have put all the blame on Iris.

That way, it wasn’t surprising that Katrina wanted to kill Iris for revenge.

“How could this Katrina do something so stupid and crazy!” Megan still couldn’t quite believe it.

Charlie snorted, “So this is the good daughter–in–law you liked.”

Megan pouted, looking super sad and wronged.

Charlie ignored her, sat down on the bench outside the operating room, closed his eyes, and waited for news from inside.

Megan cried for a while herself, then walked over too, put her hands together and closed her eyes, silently praying in her heart, asking the ancestors to bless Heriberto.
