Aedan raised his hand, his cool fingertips touched her temple, gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and softly asked, “How is it, do you feel any better?”
As he spoke, he leaned over and raised the head of the hospital bed to about a forty–five degree angle.
“Why did you come?”
As Aedan leaned down, his breath almost sprayed on Iris’s face.
Only then did Iris finally realize that the person she saw in front of her wasn’t her imagination.
“I called you yesterday, you didn’t pick up, so I called Laurel.”
Aedan said, then went to pick up a glass of warm water from the nightstand and handed it to Iris.
Iris wanted to sit up, but obviously, she was still too weak.
Aedan hurried over, put his arm around her back, helped her sit up, then held the water to her mouth.
Iris didn’t make a fuss and drank half a glass of water as he moved.
“What did Laurel say to you?” she asked after drinking some water.
“She didn’t say anything.” Aedan kept holding the water to her lips, “Drink some more.”
Iris shook her head and asked again, “Then how did you come to Beachbourne?”

Aedan smiled, “I wanted to see you, so I came.”
Iris, “…
“Still feeling weak?” This time, it was Aedan who asked. “Besides feeling limp all over, is there anything else wrong?”
Iris shook her head, “I just felt sore all over and couldn’t use any strength at all.”
“Do you trust me?” Aedan suddenly asked.
Iris laughed, “What are you going to do?”
“Trust me, just take these two kinds of medicine,” Aedan said, grabbing the pills he had already prepared from the nightstand.
Iris took one look at the pill in his hand and reached for it without saying a word.
Given Aedan’s medical skills, she had no reason not to trust him, especially since she was just drugged with an aphrodisiac.
It wasn’t some kind of deadly poison or terminal illness.
Aedan watched her movements, the look in his eyes growing even softer, and he just brought the medicine right to her lips.
Iris put the medicine in her mouth, took a big sip of water, and swallowed the medicine.
“Eat something, then get some good sleep. You’ll feel better when you wake up,” Aedan put down the glass and gently ran his fingers through her hair as he spoke.
Iris nodded, then lifted the blanket to get out of bed.
