She was about to lose her ability to distinguish her own

perception.

Less than an hour passed, and the door of the operating room opened.

The doctor and nurse pushed Emery out.

Bethany saw Emery with his eyes closed and quickly took out her phone and typed a line of text.

“Wasn’t it just a minor surgery? Why is he still unconscious?”

The doctor smiled and said, “It’s not a coma, just asleep. Everything is fine. The surgery was successful, so don’t worry. They might wake up tomorrow morning when the anesthesia wears off and feel a little pain. Just comfort and soothe the child then.””

Bethany breathed a sigh of relief and followed the doctor and nurses to the ward.

They arranged Emery and then left.

Bethany sat at the bedside and reached out to touch Emery’s

He looked very much like Terrence, almost as if he was carved

out of the same mold.

Every time she looked at Emery, she would think of Terrence.

Terrence and Emery were her dearest, dearest people, she loved Emery very, very much.

So, when she saw Emery liking Krista so much, she inevitably felt heartbroken.

Dong dong dong, there came a knocking sound from outside.

Bethany thought it was Terrence who had come back, so she turned her head.

The door was pushed open, and it was Krista.

Bethany’s eyes tightened.

Krista stepped in.

She walked to the bedside and glanced at Emery, looking

worried. “Beth, is Emery okay?”

Bethany knew that Krista could understand sign language, but she didn’t use a phone to type, she signed directly.

“It was appendicitis, but it’s fine. I have already had the surgery!”

“How did he suddenly get appendicitis?”

Bethany shook her head.

Krista said with concern, “The child suffered so much.”

Krista took a chair and sat down next to Bethany.

Bethany furrowed her brow.

Terrence suddenly coaxed her, bought her a cake, and got

intimate with her.

It shattered her guess once.

She loved him so much that she was completely defenseless

against his tenderness.

She quickly suppressed the force of this impulse, sitting quietly

without making a sound.

Krista did speak.

“Beth, Emery, there wasn’t anything major happening over here. You’re fine for the night, so go back and rest. I’ll take care of him for you.”

Bethany gestured and said, “No worries, I’m not tired. It’s you who just got off the plane and haven’t adjusted to the time difference yet. You should go rest”

Krista thought for a moment and said, “Beth, here’s the thing. Last time Emery had a fever, the nurse who gave him the injection was his classmate’s mom. He asked me to pretend to be you, saying that he didn’t want his classmates to know about your situation. It’s almost dawn, and there will be more staff during the day, so we might run into someone we know…

If it was too obvious, Krista didn’t say anything more.

Bethany could understand what she meant.

When Krista spoke, her voice was not loud, but rather polite and gentle, soft and intellectual. Even though the words were so

harsh, when they came out of her mouth, they still sounded

pleasant.

Bethany reluctantly pursed her lips.

Emery’s mood, she could indeed understand.

She also heard Emery’s concern about her inability to speak.
