Ex-Husband Begone (Bethany and Terrence) novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Terrence gave her a quick, cold look. “Bethany isn’t home. Why

didn’t you make breakfast this morning?”

Before she could say anything, Krista interjected, “Terrence, I

know you hate leaves all over the ground, so I told Eliza to clean

up the yard.”

Terrence looked back at Krista and stared at her for a moment.

It was true, he didn’t like leaves everywhere. It reminded him of

when his mom left.

After Emery got in the car, Terrence drove off.

Eliza watched the car go with a grumpy look and sighed, feeling

kinda helpless.

She took out her phone and sent another message to Bethany:

“Mrs. McConnell, when are you coming back?”

When Bethany woke up in the morning, she went straight to the kitchen to start cooking.

She was in the middle of stir–frying when she saw Eliza’s

message, and it suddenly dawned on her that she wasn’t at

Chapter 10

Vespera Villa, and she didn’t need to make breakfast or lunch for

Emery.

The habits she had built up over the years were too hard to

break.

Bethany quickly turned off the stove and dumped the half-

cooked food in the pan into the trash.

She wasn’t much of a cook at first.

When she was twelve, her grandma passed away. She got by on

the paper–cutting skills her grandma taught her, taking odd jobs

here and there. Her meals were simple. As long as it filled her up,

that was good enough.

Later, when she went to college and lived on campus, she mostly

ate at the cafeteria.

Terrence was the kind of guy who was at the top of the food

chain. He had high standards for everything he ate, wore, and

used.

To be a good wife to him, Bethany learned all sorts of things.

Then they had Emery, and she thought about how she could take

an animation project.

When they were about to break up because they didn’t have

enough money, Bethany helped them out.

Chapter 10

She couldn’t make her own dream come true, but she wanted

others with dreams to keep going.

She answered the call and used sign language to ask Damari if he

needed money.

Damari shook his hands and signed, “No, no. We’ve got enough

money. I heard from a friend today that you went to the hospital

the day before yesterday. Is something wrong? We want to come

and see you.”

Bethany had gone to get her health check–up results the day

before yesterday.

Knowing they were busy with the post–production of a movie

and not wanting to distract them, she smiled and signed back,

“I’m fine. It was just a routine check–up. Don’t worry about me.

Once you’re done with your work, I’ll treat you all to a meal!”
