Chapter39
It was like she was just some random stranger.
Cecilia’s heart sank for a moment, but the joy of soon becoming Mrs. Goldstein quickly took over.
It was okay, there would be plenty of time later.
She would make him fall in love with her again.
Emmitt put Cecilia’s hand in Timothy’s hand.
Timothy’s hand was cold and stiff, with no warmth at all.
He didn’t even look at Cecilia, just did it mechanically.
The two stood side by side at the altar.
A big smile, looking really pleased.
A face looked ashen, totally lifeless.
It formed a really weird and ironic contrast.
The witness started reading the vows.
“Timothy, did you want to marry Cecilia…”
Timothy didn’t react at all, still staring into space.
The witness paused awkwardly and raised his voice.
“Timothy?”

There was a slight commotion from the audience.
Emmitt was offstage, anxiously making faces.
Timothy finally reacted, he slowly turned his head and looked at the witness.
His eyes were blank, with no focus at all.
“Yeah.”
He squeezed a vague syllable out of his throat as an answer.
The witness breathed a sigh of relief and quickly turned to Cecilia.
“Cecilia, did you want to marry Timothy as his wife…
“I was willing, of course I was willing!”
་་
Cecilia almost couldn’t wait to answer, her voice sharp and excited.
I was afraid Timothy would change his mind.
Her eagerness was in sharp contrast to the groom’s indifference, which drew a wave of snickers from the audience.
Emmitt and Jazlene’s faces looked even worse.
Next was the ring exchange part.
Timothy picked up the ring and shoved it onto Cecilia’s finger.
Didn’t even look up at her.
When it was Cecilia’s turn to put the ring on Timothy.
But Timothy suddenly pulled his hand back and looked at her with
cold eyes.

It was like her touch was something dirty.
Cecilia’s smile froze on her face, and her fingers awkwardly stopped in
mid–air.
The talking under the stage got even louder.
Emmitt had to cough quietly to remind.
Only then did Timothy reluctantly reach out his hand and let Cecilia put the ring on.
The whole thing was full of awkwardness and reluctance.
The wedding ceremony ended in this weird atmosphere.
According to the process, next was the newlyweds‘ dance.
The band played a romantic waltz.
Cecilia looked at Timothy with anticipation and reached out her hand.
But Timothy acted like he didn’t see it and turned to walk off the stage.
“Timothy!” Cecilia hurriedly grabbed him.
Timothy shook off her hand in disgust, his eyes cold.
“Don’t touch me.”
His voice wasn’t loud, but it was full of a biting chill.
Cecilia’s face suddenly turned pale, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She didn’t expect that Timothy would embarrass her like that in public. The guests in the audience were watching with great interest.

This wedding really turned out even more amazing than I thought.
Emmitt saw what was happening and quickly went up on stage to smooth things over.
“Timothy wasn’t feeling well, so I’ll do this dance instead.”
As he spoke, he took Cecilia’s hand and started waltzing.
Cecilia held back her humiliation and went along with Emmitt’s dance steps.
But I was full of resentment toward Timothy in my heart.
When she became the real Mrs. Goldstein, just wait and see how she would deal with him!
The lunch started, and the atmosphere eased up a bit.
The guests clinked their glasses and toasted each other.
Emmitt and Jazlene took Timothy and Cecilia around to greet people at each table.
Timothy still looked like a zombie, just mechanically raisin is glass and drinking.
Cecilia tried hard to play the role of the cheerful and outgoing bride.
She kept raising her glass, smiling all the time, trying to fit into this circle she had always dreamed of.
However, her background and experience meant she just didn’t fit in with this crowd.
After a few drinks, Cecilia’s true colors started to show.
Her words and actions got a bit flirty, and she started talking louder.

She even started flirting with some young rich guys.
Emmitt and Jazlene saw it and were worried, but they couldn’t really lose their temper in public.
I could only keep giving her looks to tell her to calm down.
But Cecilia obviously didn’t get the signal, or maybe she just didn’t
care.
She felt like she was Mrs. Goldstein now, so she could do whatever she wanted.
Halfway through the toasts, Cecilia suddenly took the mic and walked to the center of the stage.
Everyone’s eyes were drawn to her.
“Dear guests, today was the big day for Timothy and me. Thank you all for coming.”
Cecilia was holding the mic, looking a bit drunk, with an exaggerated smile on her face.
