Ivy’s POV
“Ivy,” my manager called out sweetly as soon as I walked into the studio
“Good morning, Miss Chappell,” I responded and pulled off my headphones. (Please confirm that her manager doesn’t have a different name before.
“Good morning, love.” She grabbed my hand. “We need to talk,” she said in a small voice.
I noticed the worried look on her face and how she wouldn’t even look me in the eye. Panic set in instantly. “Did something happen?” asked
She tugged at my hand and pulled me aside. “Come with me.”
I followed her quietly down the hallway until we made it to her office. She shut the door after me and peered at me.
“What happened?” Lasked again. My mind was already conjuring up different unpleasant scenarios
“I was going to call or leave you a text when I found out, but I figured it would be better for you to hear it in person, and from no other person but-”
“Oh my God! Did someone die?” I cut in impatiently
She shook her head strongly. “God, no! No one did.”
“Spill it already, Miss Chappell!”
“I don’t know what happened between you and Taylor. There were no explanations, no reasons given. You two went from being inseparable to not speaking to each other anymore.” Her eyes darted across my face as if to gauge my reaction.
Thad a blank expression on my face. I wanted to see where she was going with this.
“I loved un
you two together, you did really great work together, everyone knows that, and now the agency thinks they need to get her on the contract. She sighed. “They already did. She’s clocked in for work today, and I know how much you wanted this to be just your thing, I wanted that too,” her voice had risen a notch. “But they already got her before I could even argue anything. I. She trailed off to let it sink in.
And it did take a moment to sink in. I had been on numerous solo modeling contracts for a long time. This one was the biggest it was highly sought ster and exclusive, the contracts ran for a couple of years. It was a model’s dream
A dream I was living, a job I loved. Taylor being anywhere in this mix was like spilling blood on snow. It ruined the perfect life had managed to build. The plan was to ignore her, and so far, it was working perfectly.
“I can’t—I can’t work with her, Miss Chappell…“shook my head. “I don’t want to deal with Taylor, ever. Ho–How did this happen?” i stuttered.
She cupped my hands in hers. “Slow down, slow down, love.” She tried to calm my nerves. “What happened betwe together, maybe can understand…
two? You loved working
I pulled my hand away, shaking my head. “No, no, I can’t. I can’t do this, I rushed out of the room. There was just one thing on my mind: I had to speak with the person in charge. This couldn’t be happening, there had to be a way around this.
I burst through Phoenix’s office. He looked up at me, with panic in his eyes.
“Did something happen, Ivy?”
I took a moment to calm down when I saw the startled expression on Phoenix’s face. He usually was a chill person, and we had grown to become pretty close exhaled “Miss Chappell told me about Taylor…
“Yes, I got word from the higher–ups that they would like Taylor to join the campaign, and because of the beautiful friendship you two share…” He trailed off when he noticed the look on my face. “Okay, I can see you’re not exactly thrilled about her joining you….

shook my head. “No, no,
I’m not
Phoenix rose to his fert. “Honey, truly want to help you out, but you can see in hands are tied I didn’t make this decision.
There was a sudden knock on the door, interrupting us.
“Comin
In Phoenix yelled out.
We all turned around.
As soon as Taylor walked into the office, I felt my blood pressure spike. I forced mell to look away, pretending to be engrossed in the documents on the table in front of me. But I could still feel her presence, that same arrogant energy, as if she hadn’t done anything to betray me, to hurt me. I tried to ignore her, I really did. But then she came right over, and in that fake sweet voice, she called out to me, “Hello, My”
“Taylor,” I called out to her dryly
Phoenix locked between the both of us, an awkward silence stretched, and then he glanced at the window. “Wonderful weather today,” he commented. 1 grumbled my response.
“It’s nice to work with you again, Ivy, Taylor began, an amused smile on her lips. “We were always so good together, don’t you think?’ missed this, Missed us.” She sighed. “We had a wonderful run, little wonder the team thought it was best for me to come on this contract.”
I clenched my fists beside me, willing myself not to snap. Something about the way she talked made me feel like this was done on purpose. Somehow, she had managed to compel my employers to put her on this contract. I could never be truly free from her because no matter how much I tried, she would never stop trying to weasel her way into my life.
I folded my arms across my chest. “What do you really want, Taylor?”
“Nothing, Ivy,” she turned to glance at Phoenix, “When I heard we would be working on this project together and you were around, of course, I thought to come say hi. We would be working closely together after all…
The nerve. The absolute nerve of her to say those things to me after what she did. She stood there with that sly smirk, like she was taunting me. I couldn’t take it anymore. My face felt hot, my heart was pounding in my ears. I turned to Phoenix. “I talk later, Phoenix,” I said and stormed out. Even if we stuck together on one project, there was no need for us to continue to stay in one room. I didn’t have to deal with her outside what was necessary.
“Goodbye, babe,” he waved at me.
I could feel her following me, her heels tapping on the floor as she called my name. But I kept walking, each stop feeling heavier, Elled with the weight of what I wanted to say to her.
“Why are you acting like this?” she called out as we turned a comer, and I finally stopped, spinning to face heMy eyes were wide with anger.
“Why am i acting like this?” I snapped. “Are you for real, Taylor? Or is this some kind of sick joke?”
She crossed her arms, leaning back like she had all the time in the world. “vy, I don’t see the need to let some… mindless beef interfere with our work. Don’t you think it’s a bit childish? We are professionals after all..
I felt a surge of anger rise up in me. My fists clenched so tight my nails dug into my palms. “Mindless beef?” I hissed. “You lied to me. You threw away years of friendship, years of sisterhood, and went behind my back and betrayed me, and you call that ‘mindless bee!“?”
Taylor rolled her eyes, clearly getting frustrated. Oh, come on, Ivy, it’s not like that. Why do you have to be so dramatic? This isn’t about me or what happened with Max. This is about you letting go of things that don’t matter.”
I stared at her, all the memories rushing back, the hurt, the betrayal. And then, Jualized something I hadn’t seen before, something that hit me like a punch in the gut.
“I finally figured it out, Taylor,” I said, my voice low and steady, know what you are. You’re jealous. You always have been. I don’t know why Inver

yes, but it was gone before I could place what it was. “I don’t want anything that you hire, try.
“Oh, you do!” I snapped. “You always did. You coveted my family, you coveted my job, and that’s why you’re here I don’t know how you did it, but you somehow convinced them to derail from their original contract so you can try to steal my spotlight.” Idryly chuckled. “Heck, you even coveted Mar, just for the fact that he was minet But you know what. Her face twisted, like I’d struck a nerve. “Don’t be too sure, Ivy,” she retorted, “Don’t be too sure?
