Chapter 313 He Agreed
With deliberate steps, Sadie entered the elevator, her thoughts in disarray.
Her grip on the handrail tightened, her knuckles
“tening under the pressure.
She continually reminded herself to stay composed, to think logically. She couldn’t afford to fall for Noah again.
Upon reaching her apartment, Sadie quickly locked the door, sealing herself away in her small space.
Outside the building, Noah remained still, his gaze fixed on the path Sadie had taken. He stood frozen, lost in thought.
Exhaustion and regret forced a heavy sigh from his lips.
For him and Sadie, there was no path to reconciliation.
The wounds from three years ago had carved a deep gap between them.
Despite his efforts, the pain Sadie had endured was persisting.
Noah pulled out his phone and called Samuel.
“Samuel, I need you to assign some people to watch over Sadie. Ensure she stays safe.”
“Understood, Mr. Wall.” Came Samuel’s dutiful response.
Even after he hung up, Noah’s mood remained heavy.
His mind wandered to the admonitions from years past, echoing in his memory. “Noah, you’ll regret this. You’ll regret losing Sadie forever.”
Back then, he had laughed off those warnings.
Now, he couldn’t deny that they were right.
The regret was profound.
Had he not misjudged Sadie three years earlier, had he not driven her away, Averi might have been his child, and they could have been a joyful family.
Yet, life doesn’t bend to “if only.”
His opportunity was lost, and the past was irreversible.
A rueful smile appeared on Noah’s face as he walked towards the road.
But soon, he was abruptly stopped by a figure.
Under the glow of a streetlamp stood Kyla, her expression ghostly and sorrowful.
“Why are you here?” Noah asked, his tone cold and detached.
“I… I just wanted to explain what happened. I didn’t mean to…” Kyla’s voice shook, her eyes brimming with tears.

Noah interjected sharply, “Stop. I don’t want to listen to any excuses.”
He tried to move past her, but Kyla, persistent, grabbed his sleeve.
“Please stay, Noah. Hear me out…”
Noah abruptly pulled his arm away, causing Kyla to lose her balance and fall to the cold ground.
“Ouch!” she exclaimed as she hit the pavement, her hand scraping against it and starting to bleed.
“How can you do this to me?” Kyla looked up at Noah, tears streaking down her face, her voice a shaky blend of pain and
desperation.
Noah’s expression remained cold as he looked down at her.
Feeling his cold stare, Kyla shivered, her complexion growing paler.
“Noah, I admit my mistakes. I was wrong to treat Sadie that way. It’s just that my love for you is so strong, I feared I might lose you…” Her words faded to a whisper.
“Love for me?” Noah scoffed dismissively.
“Noah…” Kyla attempted to continue, but he interjected. “Kyla, let’s be clear. If you hadn’t saved my life once, do you really think you’d still be here? You would have been gone a long time ago.”
Kyla felt as if a knife had pierced her heart at his words.
Her face turned paler and her lips quivered, yet she found herself speechless.
She was determined not to let this situation spiral out of control. There had to be a solution.
“Noah… I’m pleading with you, please don’t do this.” Kyla’s voice faltered as she pleaded with Noah. “I’ll go away. You won’t have to deal with me again.”
Noah’s expression shifted, his eyebrows knitting together in mild surprise.
“Really, I’ll go. You have my word,” Kyla said vigorously, almost as if she feared he doubted her sincerity.
“You need to assure me you’ll never show your face to me or Sadie again,” Noah demanded.
“I give you my word. I swear it,” Kyla replied, her voice shaking with earnestness.
Pausing briefly, she then looked up at Noah warily. “And one more thing…” She hesitated, then continued, “About the International Jewelry Design Competition, could you possibly… Could you consider letting my friend Vivi win?”
Noah was taken aback by the request.
Unaware that Sadie was also a competitor, he casually consented. “Proceed as you wish. It’s merely a minor contest.”
He considered the competition’s result trivial compared to his primary concern: Sadie’s well–being.
“Thank you, Noah. Thank you so much…” Kyla’s face beamed as she repeatedly expressed her gratitude.
Without uttering a word, Noah turned and walked away, not looking back.
As he departed, Kyla’s gaze lingered on him, her face soon contorted by a slight, sinister smirk.
“So, Sadie, you think you’ve won, huh? If I can’t be with Noah, I’ll make sure you won’t be either.”

Standing up, Kyla brushed off her tears and straightened her attire. She then retrieved her phone and dialed Vivi.
“I’ve taken care of it. Noah has given his nod. You’re set to win the contest…”
Back at his car, Noah slumped into his seat, closed his eyes, and let the fatigue envelop him.
