“Jewelry, stones, I didn’t need any of them.”
“Don’t show off your money anymore.”
“I knew what you could do, but I loved her.”
Belinda was mature for her age. She wasn’t even five yet, but she talked in a really organized way.
Belinda jumped down from the chair, and the big–eared dog plushie in her arms had its ears flapping.
“Don’t come looking for me again,” she repeated once more. “It’s about time. I’m going back to sleep.”
After she finished talking, Belinda was about to go outside.
Maxwell stood up. He didn’t go after her, but said, “Just this once, take it. I bought it especially for you.”
Belinda turned around, her lips pressed flat.
Belinda said, “Uncle, I told you, you could give them to someone else.”
“You could do whatever you wanted with them after you took them.” Maxwell said.
“I told youL
Belinda said. “this is yours, I wouldn’t take it.”
“Uncle, were you trying to pick on a kid like me?”
Maxwell sighed, “That’s not what I meant.”
He just wanted to be good to her.
But Belinda just looked at him.
The dean, who had been waiting at the door, heard the noise and came in, looking at Maxwell with disapproval.
Someone came and took Belinda back, the dean stood here, watching Maxwell with his lips pressed tight.
“You go back,” the dean said. “We will take care of her.”
Maxwell looked away. He lowered his head, and the messy hair on his forehead hid his feelings.
He took a notebook out of his pocket, wrote a check, and handed it to the dean.
“Donation,” he said. “for Haraville Orphanage. How to use it, you guys decide.”
The dean looked complicated, but still took the check.
Haraville Orphanage really needed this money.
“These things.” Maxwell paused for a moment and said. “See if any other kids could use them.”
The dean nodded.
“Don’t tell the other kids it was me who donated it, and take good care of her.” Maxwell added.
The dean nodded. “We would.”
Maxwell nodded.
“I left.”
He said this, not sure who he was talking to, then turned around and walked into the night.

Time flew by.
The whole city was full of turmoil.
Jeremiah was rushing to the old house.
He had several phones in his pocket. One was on a video call with Stephanie and the others, and another one was checking for news from the old house.
Then, he started to have a headache.
Several people from the investors‘ side went over there.
Although Stephanie already gave him a proper solution, the killer part was, the boss and Simon also went over.
Now he was getting stronger and stronger in the Conway family fight. and these two evil wolves wouldn’t let him go.
But, seeing Stephanie and the others still working hard to look up information over there, Jeremiah calmed himself down.
Had to do it even if I couldn’t!
He only had this one shot to turn things around, and it was Stephanie who gave it to him. If he messed it up, he’d be stuck in the mud for the rest of his life!
He was rushing the driver to go faster and didn’t notice the other car brushing past his.

In the neighborhood.
Stephanie and a few others went through tons of info and finally figured out everything they needed to check.
Like that, only then did a few people relax a little.
Stephanie checked the time, it was already 3 a.m.
“You guys worked hard,” Stephanie said gratefully.
“Not hard, not hard,” Logan said with a smile. “It’s what I should do.”
He wasn’t working for free, Jeremiah had already seen how good he was and hired him over at Conway Entertainment, and the pay was
awesome.
It was just that Stephanie was still in a special period, so we kept it a secret for now, and would let others know when the time was right.
McKayla wasn’t shy either. She smiled, hugging her new season Prada bag, and happily said, “I accept bribes in the form of bags. Doing something for it is only fair.”
But Stephanie knew there was a big difference between just doing the job and really caring.
And one was an otaku whose wall of figurines was worth as much as an apartment, and the other was the daughter of the Northpine Hospital director. Neither of them lacked money.
They all worked so hard for her.
But Stephanie didn’t plan to say much. She would just keep these feelings in her heart and treat them well in the future.
10:45-
“Steph, what were you planning to do next?” McKayla said, yawning.
Logan was ordering late–night snacks while listening.
