Truman ducked just in time. The needle barely missed him, slicing through the air past his car. Once the danger passed, he straightened up slowly, placing a dramatic hand on his chest. “Are you trying to blind me?

“If I weren’t an Alpha with these quick reflexes, you’d be stuck making love with a blind man forever.

You deserve it!” I snapped, irritated by his shameless joking.

I sneered, “Maybe going blind would finally stop you from staring at things that aren’t yours.

“I’ve told you before–push me too far, and you’ll regret it. Benjamin is mine. If you dare touch him, even if you’re an Alpha King, I’ll make you suffer!”

He looked down and kept quiet. I was about to say more when Hera suddenly stirred within me, me thrilled and energized than she had been in a long while.

I turned just in time to see a sleek black van roll up. The door opened slowly, and Benjamin stepped out.

“What are you two chatting about?” he asked with a soft smile, leaning in to kiss me lightly.

“Oh, just asking Zayd some stuff about back home,” I replied, smiling like it was no big deal.
