Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2699

More Than Meets The Eye

“You girls are too much! How can you leave me alone at the supermarket? You could have at least informed me that you are going back first… “ Dustin mumbled as he opened the door and headed towards the kitchen.

“Look! I’ve even gotten drinks for you girls!”

The two women did not hear a single thing the man said as they looked at each other wordlessly in the living room.

Feeling that something was off, Dustin immediately walked out of the kitchen.

“What happened?” Dustin asked as he wiped his hands on his shirt and walked towards Joan.

“Did you just cry?”

Dustin took a look at Joan and glanced at Abelyn.

“Abelyn, what did you do to her? Be honest, did you bully Joan?” Dustin interrogated Abelyn as he picked her up and threw her on the sofa.

“Dustin! What on Earth was what? Why would I bully her? Larry was the one who bullied her!” Abelyn adjusted her clothes as she protested.

Huh? How is that possible? It didn’t make sense to Dustin that Larry would hurt the woman as he was aware of how much he loved her. Dustin turned around and sat beside Joan, attempting to comfort her.

“Joan, what happened? Tell me, I’ll stand up for you… “ Dustin said, looking anxious.

“He’s getting married,” Joan said calmly, with her lips trembling slightly.

“Who are you talking about?” Dustin asked, feeling confused.

“Dustin, are you stupid or what?” Abelyn scolded as she picked up a pillow from the sofa and threw it at Dustin.

“Larry and Della are getting married,” Joan’s head hung low and said weakly.

Dustin suddenly understood the situation.

Dustin could feel his heart aching as he sensed the suffering of the woman in front of him.

Previously, he had thought that he would be happy if Joan and Larry broke up, excited even. However, seeing how pained the woman he loved was after losing the man she loved, all he could feel was heartache and sympathy.

So, that was how it felt to truly love someone.

“Joan, don’t be too upset first. It doesn’t seem like a simple matter. Maybe it isn’t as bad as you think. We should investigate the matter thoroughly… “ Dustin tried his best to comfort the woman.

After all, apart from trying to comfort her, there was nothing else he could do.

Joan suddenly stood up and went back to her room silently. Laying on her bed, she gazed at the stars outside the window, feeling extremely disappointed.

She did not understand why Larry would marry Della. She also did not understand why he would break his promise of protecting her forever.

Was that just a lie? Do all men really just think with the part below their belts?

The more Joan thought about it, the more absurd she felt. She had loved Larry for so long, but he had merely treated her as a tool! Even though she wasn’t by his side anymore, he could still look for other tools to fulfill his needs.
