Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2644

Threatening Call

I wonder what’s Joan doing at the moment? Larry turned to look out the windows with a sorrowful glint in his eyes.

On the other hand, the massive development of M Group had recently caught the attention of all major companies. Everyone was starting to generate a fear towards Jake and worried about their assets being taken over instantly.

“How’s it going?” At another office, Jake was questioning his assistant.

“It is almost done. Don’t worry,” The assistant responded steadfastly.

Great! I can’t wait to see how Larry would react to this incident! Jake’s hand clenched into a fist by his side, his gaze growing sharp.

All of these happen thanks to you, Joan!

“However, Mr. Wilson, are you sure you gonna do it? Someone from the board of directors has already…” The assistant choked on her words.

“Just ignore them and do as I say!” Jake was not interested at all in what the assistant had in mind.

The assistant stared helplessly at Jake and left the office.

Meanwhile, in the photography studio, everybody was bustling about, including Joan.

“Joan, you should take a break.” Abigail came and said.

“Alright. I’m almost done.” Joan rubbed her forehead.

Abigail was somehow heartbroken looking at the exhausted Joan.

Since Faye passed away, Joan had not hired any new assistant.

“Joan, what if I try to find another assistant for you? What do you think?” Abigail voiced out her suggestion carefully.

For an instant, Joan’s pen paused.

“I don’t need it,” she answered.

“But look at you. You’re overworking every day. We’re worried to see you like this.”

“I’m fine. You don’t have to worry. I’m well aware of my own body.”

She’s so stubborn! Moments later, Abigail walked out of the office helplessly, somehow infuriated.

“How was it? Did she agree?” One of the colleagues asked.

Abigail shook her head sadly.

“Don’t make a conclusion so soon. I bet you’ll agree eventually.”

Upon hearing that, a vague uneasiness slowly crept up of Joan. She feared if anything unexpected would happen, that was beyond her control.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Larry wrapped his arms around her shoulder gently.

“I’m fine.” Joan assured him.

Larry knew she had something on her mind as it was written all over her face. He could not help feeling confused and complicated.

“Alright, it’s late. Go to bed.” A short moment later, Larry stroked her back gently.

“How about you? Aren’t you going to sleep?”

“I still got some unfinished work,” he replied.

He’s so busy, as always. In fact, she was still learning to adapt.

“Larry!” Before Joan walked into the bedroom, she suddenly turned and called out to him.

“What is it?”

“Um, how is Norton Corporation lately?” she asked.
