"Me?" Reese pointed to himself, feeling a bit incredulous. He had barely interacted with witchcraft growing up. Suddenly being told to wake Wrendell was…
"What am I supposed to do?" he asked.
Scathach picked up a twig and drew a strange symbol on the ground. "I have the ability to connect your soul with Wrendell's. At that point, you might be able to pull him back!"
Reese hesitated. "I… I don't know what to do."
Scathach understood his struggle. "You don't need to worry. I'll guide you. As long as you can find my brother and help him regain his confidence, you can wake his soul."
"Regain his confidence?" Reese questioned, confused. "Why did he lose it? I know nothing about his past."
Scathach refrained from elaborating. "Once you connect your soul with his, you'll be able to access his memories. You'll understand what happened then. Explaining too much now would only waste time."
Given that they had reached this point in their conversation, Reese felt no more hesitation. "I proposed this trial, so his situation concerns me as well. Don't worry, I'll definitely wake him up!"
Scathach nodded and motioned for Reese to sit across from her. She retrieved a burning stick from the nearby fire and ignited the totem before her with the flames.
The pattern instantly dissolved into nothing, and the remnants on the ground began to scatter.
At that moment, Scathach used her true energy to draw the ashes into her and Reese's bodies. Then, she tossed the burning stick into the remaining ashes. The ashes, wrapped in flames, ignited again. The flames formed a ring that enveloped both of them.
Scathach instructed, "This fire represents time. The longer we use it, the closer we get to our goal. We only have about 30 minutes, so do your best!"
Scathach smiled fondly. "Silly boy, I sure won't."
The siblings playfully entered through the front door. Just as Reese was about to follow, Scathach, who had been walking ahead, turned and glanced at him.
At that moment, Reese understood. This had to be the hint Scathach mentioned.
Reese walked into the mansion. The courtyard was small, but perhaps due to its mountain location, the air was especially fresh, and the vegetation was lush.
He stepped into a room.
