My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2489

"Anox, thank you," Teresa said softly.

"Why are you thanking me?"

"It's nothing... Nothing at all..." Teresa then took a step forward, her gaze burning with warmth.

Suddenly, she kissed Anox on the cheek.

Anox's face flushed a deeper shade of red. "T-Teresa..."

"See you tomorrow, darling..."

"Okay. Goodnight."

Anox watched as Teresa entered her home. Then, feeling lighthearted, he happily skipped his way back in the direction of his own house. However, just as he was about to continue walking, he heard rustling from a nearby bush.

He turned toward the source of the noise.

"Hey, stop pushing me!"

"Wait, wait! Kalo, calm down!"

With a loud crash, Kalo, Chevy, Enid, and Marino tumbled out of the bushes.

Anox stood there, looking at the four of them with a mix of disbelief and amusement.

"You guys saw everything?"

The four stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Kalo stepped forward, trying to recover from the awkward situation. "Uh, the moon is so round tonight, isn't it, Chevy?"

"Ah, yeah… It's really beautiful," Chevy agreed, playing along.

Marino chimed in with exaggerated enthusiasm, "Haha, how about we all go count the stars together?"

"Yeah, yeah, let's all go!" Kalo added quickly.

"Alright, alright," Anox said, patting Enid gently on the shoulder. He was unable to be harsh with someone so sweet and innocent. He then shifted his gaze to Kalo.

"And you... corrupting Chevy is bad enough, but now, you're corrupting Enid too?"

"Hey, I didn't do anything!" Kalo protested.

"Don't think I don't know what you're up to," Anox continued, grabbing Kalo by the collar. "You just want to record me saying something embarrassing so that you can make fun of me later, right?"

"Come on, Anox! We've been close for years. How could you think that of me?"

"Enough talk! Let's go home!"

"Okay, okay, take it easy..."

Amid their playful banter, the group began walking home, laughing and teasing one another as they went.

That night, under the shimmering stars, some of them were too excited to sleep.
