Of course, it was not an easy task for Leuca to personally deal with Endel. He had spent many years carefully biding his time, staying close to his father and waiting for the perfect opportunity.
This was also why Enid wandered on her own for so many years. Although the church had taken her in, Enid had always wanted to return home. This connected back to the earlier story of Enid and the Mother of Immortals.
Throughout this time, Leuca played the role of a sinner and a trickster. His collaboration with the state capital was largely due to this. While his father's reputation was tainted, the public gradually came to accept a more worldly version of Leuca.
To them, he was seen as a man who would stop at nothing for profit. He was a small-minded person driven by self-interest. Labeled as such, his actions became more tolerated.
This reputation allowed Leuca to navigate partnerships, including with those in the state capital, while receiving various perks thanks to his bad reputation. Despite the disdain others felt for him, they allowed him to continue his brazen activitiesβboth in the open and behind the scenes.
This was the path Leuca had devised for himself. The sins of the Goodes were his to bear. Carrying this burden meant he had to be cautious and ensure that his sister was never tied to him in any way.
The competition pressed on. Enid found herself constantly retreating in the face of Thresmund's aggressive attacks. She was puzzled by Thresmund's strange behavior.
Although she had not spoken much with him, she had seen him during the competition's opening ceremony and throughout the matches. Today, however, something was off. Thresmund felt unfamiliar, as though he were someone entirely different.
With the power of the Mother of Immortals residing within her, Enid could sense the energy of the immortal spirits around her. Among them, Thresmund's power had always been the most intense.
Yet today, she could not feel anything from himβnot even his soul. It seemed like some force was suppressing it.
A bold idea formed in Enid's mind. Instead of continuing to retreat, she did something unexpectedβshe charged directly at Thresmund. The audience noticed this sudden change in behavior.
They were shocked that the usually timid Enid was now launching an attack.
"Oh? Why not simply defeat him?" Blaque asked.
"But⦠that would hurt him, wouldn't it? H-He's a friend of my friend, so he's my friend too. And I have friends now. I want to help them."
"I understand," Blaque said as her energy began to surround Enid. "Child, give me control of your body."
"I agree," Enid replied.
Back in the real world, Enid came to a halt some distance away from Thresmund.
