Hearing Sienna's tone, Nash was puzzled.
"What's wrong?"
Sienna lowered her head and pressed her lips together. When she found out Nash wanted to give her a gift, she was thrilled and truly happy. The jewelry was high-end and incredibly glamorous, but that was not the kind of gift Sienna wanted.
"The gift is a bit too extravagant. I think it's better to pass on it," she said. She then turned around and walked away.
Nash was confused. What had he done wrong? He thought women usually loved sparkly things like this?
He did not chase after her. Instead, he stood there, trying to figure out what had happened.
He could not wrap his mind around it no matter how hard he tried.
When they got back to Sienna's home, she apologized for what she had said at the jewelry store.
Nash then pulled her into his arms. Although he still did not understand why she was upset, he was willing to make it up to her.
"Sienna, how about we go to the Southern Territory tomorrow? Just the two of us."
Sienna could not hide her happiness, and a smile spread across her face. Her eyes sparkled with joy.
"Sure! How will we get there?"
"What do you think about taking a train? The kind that moves slowly so that we can enjoy the scenery along the way. We might get to the Southern Territory a bit late, but you know..." Nash hesitated.
"I picture us with two tickets, sitting together shoulder-to-shoulder and watching the view outside. It might sound a bit childish for someone my age, but I still want to try it."
He had not encountered anything quite like it before, but after hearing what the old doctor said, he had a good sense of what might be going on.
He figured arriving a bit later would not be an issue, especially since Ronan was not in any immediate danger.
After a while, the train arrived. They passed through ticket inspection and walked onto the platform. Seeing the sparse crowd and the sun rising from the horizon, Sienna thought the moment was perfect.
She pulled out her phone, jumped up, and wrapped her arms around Nash's neck. The two quickly captured this unforgettable moment together.
The southbound train pulled into the station. Sienna fell asleep on Nash's shoulder shortly after it started moving.
In that quiet moment, both of them felt the clear, comforting presence of each other.
