My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2355

"Actually, I was unconscious for a while in between, so if you count the time before that, it’s been about half a month."

"Huh?" Charlotte was confused. Even though they were speaking the same language, she could not quite understand what Astin was saying. While she also spent a lot of time in front of a screen, her schedule was regular, so she never worked for such long stretches.

This kept her looking well-rested, with no signs of fatigue, which was in stark contrast to Astin. His disheveled hair, bleary eyes, and the dark circles under his eyes all testified to his exhaustion. His eyes were bloodshot, and despite having slept, the weariness on his face had not diminished at all.

"No wonder you passed out under the sun..."

However, Astin shook his head at this.

"I might not have fainted because of that. It’s probably just a simple case of sun allergy."

"Sun... allergy?"

Astin nodded. "I’ve been allergic to the sun since I was a kid, so I usually stay in shaded places. But I guess I was in a hurry at the time and forgot about it."

Charlotte could not help but feel exasperated. Running into such a peculiar man was unexpected. In the end, she decided to continue being kind and asked with concern, "So, what are you going to do about your situation now?"

"No worries!" Astin said as he stood up, but as soon as he took a step, his legs suddenly gave out. He collapsed onto the ground once more.

"Are you okay?" Charlotte hurried forward to help him up.

Astin chuckled awkwardly. "Uh, sorry about that. My stamina bar just ran out."

"Huh?"

"Oh, um, never mind..." Astin scratched his head, realizing he had just blurted out something he usually said while gaming. He brushed off the dust from his clothes and prepared to say goodbye to Charlotte.

"Well, uhm, thank you. I didn’t even get your name."

"Me? Charlotte."

Astin shook his head. "I’m fine..." However, he noticed the next moment that his white shirt had been stained.

"Ah... It looks like it’s soup or something... I’m really sorry, let me clean it for you," the cleaning lady said, hurriedly trying to wipe the stain off. Unfortunately, a deep brown mark remained on the white fabric.

Astin could only sigh and accept his bad luck. He waved it off and headed toward the elevator.

After making sure Astin was okay, the cleaning lady continued pushing her cart and arrived at the room next to Charlotte’s. She knocked on the door.

"Is anyone there? I’m here to clean the room..."

She waited for a while, but there was no response. Thinking the room was empty, she was about to leave when the door suddenly creaked open.

The cleaning lady was puzzled.

"It wasn’t locked..."
