Most of the participants from the upper levels were forced to withdraw from the competition due to pressure from the three major families. Dusky was not surprised by this. The reason why so few people truly attained power was that some could not even seize the opportunities placed right in front of them.
Without giving it much more thought, Dusky continued to observe everyone. In just a few hours, two small-scale battles had already broken out in the city. However, the outcomes were clearβVizimir Booth, who was at the Mystique Loyalty Realm, and Zoe Heifer, who was at the Profound Reality Realm, were both crushing their opponents with ease.
His attention shifted to the lower levels, where chaos was also unfolding. Several individuals who had lost their minds after gaining power were wreaking havoc in the streets.
Dusky remained indifferent; he had anticipated this.
Once the candidate selection was complete, everything would return to normal. The damaged buildings and the people caught up in fights would all return to normal.
The group continued their reckless rampage through the streets, showing no regard for anything in their path. Just then, Francel appeared before them.
"Hey, how about I show you what real fun is?" he taunted, twirling his staff. With a swift swing, he sent all three flying, but they quickly recovered and charged at him again.
Francel picked up his staff and swung it once more, sending them flying once again. This time, however, one of them managed to grab hold of the staff tightly while the other two lunged at Francel.
He first punched them away with ease before using his foot and kicking the staff back toward the third attacker. To his surprise, however, the man channeled his true energy and broke the staff into pieces.
"What the... You're that tough?" Francel exclaimed, shocked.
After what felt like an eternity of cat-and-mouse through the city, they finally arrived at an abandoned building. Francel halted, and the burly man behind him was already panting heavily.
Francel turned around, eyeing his pursuer with a smirk. "Had enough? If you drop dead from exhaustion, it won't be my problem."
Despite his fatigue, the burly man refused to back down. "I, Marcus Malrose, ain't afraid of a little chase!"
"Malrose, huh? Thatβs the name of the family that was kicked out of the Four Great Families, isn't it?"
Francel's taunt struck a nerve. The mention of his family made the man's face flush with rage. "Once I become a god, those who look down on the Malrose family will pay! And that includes you!" he bellowed.
