It took me some time to realize that the direction Tiago had pointed was the exact location of the room I was in.
This sent shock down my spine. Before I could react, the white-suited man looked up.
He looked handsome, with delicate features. His lips pursed, and a hint of coldness radiated off him.
As soon as our eyes met, I froze. I was so scared that I stood stock still.
He withdrew his gaze and entered the villa, and I slowly moved away from the balcony.
Sitting on the bed, I grasped my chest. My heart was going a mile a minute. What a terrifying man.
There was a knock on the door, followed by the voice of the woman who'd delivered my meals. "Miss Reid, I'm coming in."
These were the only words that she had said to me that were in English in these past few days.
The door was pushed open, and she came in. She bowed. "Miss Reid, you need to dress up and go downstairs."
At last, she'd learned to say something else. This
was a first.
I pursed my lips and looked up at her. "Go downstairs?"
She nodded. "Mr. Kaleb is waiting for you downstairs. Do hurry."
I frown. Mr. Kaleb? Was she referring to the white-suited man who had entered the villa just now?
With that said, she then went to retrieve some clothes and jewelry, and entered the bathroom after to get the bathtub ready for me. It was clear that she wanted me to get ready as soon as possible.
Some time passed, and she finally turned to me, dissatisfied. I guessed she was done with my dawdling.
I walked down the stairs, step by step, and gradually, the man came into view, sitting at the tea table in the lounge.
He held a cup of green tea leisurely in his hand, slowly filling it up with hot water. The leaves in the cup turned ambiguously as the cup began to fill, unsettling something inside me.
Westin and Tiago sat in front of Kaleb, clearly fearful as they watched him make the tea. When he'd finished, Kaleb handed them each a cup.
Both of them stood up and received the cups, both hands cupped carefully around them. They looked at Kaleb with such fear and admiration in their eyes.
"Sir, Miss Reid is here!" The woman announced humbly, as she walked towards them.
Kaleb sat still as he continued making his tea. It looked like he did not hear her. Instead, he drew the tea to his lips and blew.
A pair of dark and sharp eyes flicked over to Tiago. "Are there any new gemstones from Walsberg?"
