My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 884

Pain shot through my arm, but full consciousness just seemed to be a state impossible for me to reach.

It took me a long time to wake up, and when I did, I instinctively looked at my arm. There was a slight bruise and a hole that evidenced that the tip of a needle had pierced through it before.

"Bang!"

Before I could think further about it, the door opened. Two policewomen barged in and instructed me, "Miss Reid, please come with us."

I frowned and looked at the two of them, "Excuse me, what time is it now?"

"It's five in the afternoon!" The policewoman barked back. "Miss Reid, let's go!"

There were six more hours to go before I got released.

Following the two policewomen out of the room, I was brought to the previous interrogation room.

The only difference this time was that there was a doctor in a white coat sitting inside. He seemed to be in his forties.

I sat down, and the policewoman immediately informed me, "Miss Reid, yesterday's blood test results showed that there were traces of drugs in your blood. We will conduct a more thorough examination on you now. Please cooperate."

I pursed my lips. "Is my lawyer here?"

She hesitated for a moment before saying, "Miss Reid, we haven't heard anything regarding your lawyer yet, so you need to cooperate with us for now."

If I didn't agree, I would get into more trouble.

I sneered and continued being aggressive, "I don't know what the consequences are, but I find you suspicious. I have the right to refuse and to protect my rights."

I had gathered that it had been around five to six hours since my phone call with Michael. If I were a dumber, I might not have noticed anything unusual about this.

However, I was no fool. Although Michael was not as resourceful as before, it wouldn't be a problem for him to find me a lawyer or two.

But there was still no news from him after so many hours. Something was definitely amiss.

It seemed like I couldn't rely on him, but I was alone in Asherton. Where could I get help from?

Looking at the policewoman, I asked again, "I need to contact my family, right now."
