My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 777

Pedro looked at Valerie and saw that she looked much better. He nodded a little happier than before and said, "Alright then. I'll head back and get some rest. I'll be back later."

Valerie raised her hand, motioning him to hurry back and rest.

As soon as Pedro left, Hendrix pulled me to sit by the side of the bed. "You two should talk for a bit. The IV is running low. I'll go sort it out."

Before I could reply, he had already left.

As soon as he did, the ward fell completely silent.

I was used to the quiet. It made me feel at ease.

Valerie's lips parted a few times, and she looked as if she wanted to say something. Finally, she spoke, "He's really nice to you."

I knew she was referring to Hendrix, so I just sent her a nod and hummed in agreement.

A long silence ensued once more.

"I heard that Anne will be taking a trip to Hanlusia City with Josiah?" She asked carefully, as if treading on uncharted waters.

I nodded. Looking at the messy lines on my palm, I started to feel myself getting a little annoyed.

She paused for a moment and said, "You and Hendrix are at the right age to have another child."

I looked up at her, my sudden gaze catching her off guard. "I... I'm just worried about you," she stammered.

I could not help but sigh.

Why did things have to be this way? We were mother and daughter, but had to walk on eggshells around each other when we talked.

But if we did not do this, how else could we get along with each other?

Fortunately, Hendrix didn't take long to get a nurse into the ward to change the IV drip for her, which greatly eased the tension in the air.

When Hendrix came in, he brought breakfast with him, all of which were porridge. He looked at Valerie and said, "Madam Lawson, have some porridge. I'll order you more food you like when it's noon."

Valerie nodded, thanking him.

They weren't familiar with each other, so they did not talk much. It soon became quiet again when there was no topic left to make small talk over.

Laughter erupted from my chest. "That's why we have to have children in the future. We can't live without our families. If my grandmother knows that I've found my parents, she'd be happy."

He nodded, held me in his arms and said with a smile, "Yes, she would."

We soon arrived at the Roberts Group.

After parking the car in the basement, we got out of it and made our way into the office.

Ever since my return to Jarold City, I had all sorts of scandals made about me.

I started becoming recognizable to many.

Thus, as soon as we entered the hall, everyone would greet us, saying, "Good day, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts."

I had to force a smile throughout the entire journey. Once we got into the elevator, I breathed a sigh of complaint. "It appears being Mrs. Roberts is not easy."

I heard Hendrix's faint laughter, "Well, you'd better get used to it."
