My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 771

He raised his eyebrows but did not speak as he waited for my next sentence.

"Freya is very similar to Monique. She has Monique's innocence, clarity, enthusiasm and frankness. When I'm with her, sometimes I'll feel like Monique is still here and we're still the same as before."

Looking up at him, I saw that he was listening to me seriously. I continued to say, "Meanwhile, Yana is more like me. She's humble but stubborn; we're probably the same kind of person. I can understand her situation and what she's going through, so I always can't help but want to take care of her."

To be exact, Yana was like the old me from the past. I knew the pain of waiting well, and I understood the feeling of loving someone to the point of distress, but still wanting to hold on just a little longer.

After a while, when I saw that Hendrix had not moved, I looked up at him and saw his dark eyes staring at me motionlessly.

The faint spark of fire in his eyes left me stunned for a moment. "Hendrix..."

"I'm sorry!" He reached out and pulled me into his arms. "I will not let those things happen ever again."

Lying in his arms and listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat, I realized later that he was blaming himself.

I could not help but sigh, "Hendrix, I didn't mean to blame you. Please don't overthink this."

"I know." His voice was low when he replied.

I couldn't help but sigh again. The significance of our memory was probably a reminder that we should cherish the present and to live the best life we could.

Nerissa looked towards us and raised the corners of her mouth into a smile.

Her actions attracted the attention of Valerie and Pedro who had been chatting for a long while, causing the three of them to look over to us at the same time.

I moved away from Hendrix, feeling a little embarrassed from having so many pairs of eyes locked on us.

I lowered my voice and said, "Control yourself."

The person on the other end of the line fell silent and only spoke after a short while, "Arianna, thank you. You're the first person to call and care about me."

I pursed my lips and felt a little sad hearing that. "Is Aaron with you today? Has your child's fever gone down?"

"Yes, it has!" She said, to which I replied softly with, "Uncle Charles sent me some supplements just now. When Hendrix comes over later, I'll ask him to bring some for you."

"That's alright. I have a lot here. Save them to nourish your health," she said with a faint smile.

I was afraid that she would continue if we continued talking about this, so I said, "By the way, you haven't told me what you like to eat. I'll bring you some food later."

"Anything is fine. I'm not picky about food!" She replied, "But don't bring too much with you. I won't be able to finish it."

With a faint smile, I responded with a "yes."
