I knew that if another man saw his wife kissing someone else, even if he knew that it was against her will, he would still feel horrible.
It was like a slap on the face. He was bound to be angry.
I looked at him silently for a while, but he did not say anything. He just made his way upstairs quietly.
I left things in the hands of time. Some things could be discussed in the open; some things couldn't.
I went into the bathroom after returning to the bedroom. The cold water splashed onto my body, sending waves of slight aches through my spine.
When did Hendrix and I start threading on thin ice with our feelings?
Right, I hadn't finished going through the content of the USB Shirley gave me. I wasn't thinking straight and had a mental breakdown that month, and I was with Irvin. Our intimacy was inevitable.
Some of the scenes on the USB were unfamiliar to me which meant that it must be even more foreign to Hendrix. He had been so reserved lately. It must have something to do with the video.
Freya said Irvin told him something at the wedding. Judging from Irvin's character, it must not be something good.
He had some resentment; resentment that he did not want to tell me.
After bathing for a long time, I came out of the bathroom. I was a little out of breath, so I held the wall as I walked to the bed.
Perhaps everything would be fine after some sleep.
As expected, Hendrix did not come into the bedroom that night. He was not willing to be emotional around me, let alone to pick a fight with me.
One fight was more than enough.
The next day.
I went downstairs. After Anne was sent to school, Fiona was the only person at home.
I went to the study and studied the sandalwood box left by my grandmother. Freya said that I couldn't open the box with a normal key. Were there other ways of opening it then?
Judging from the design and structure of the box, it did not look like it was created in recent years. It looked like an old carpenter had made it during the 60s.
After a while, I started getting a little annoyed. I gave up and found myself a book in the study room to read.
I caught a glimpse of the contract on Hendrix's desk. I spotted it several times, and they were all about the acquisitions of the Granger Group.
I could not help but walk to the desk and started flipping through the pages. Mergers and acquisitions were common in business.
Regardless of the outcome, I could not have a hand in this.
Sighing slightly, I closed the contract, and put it into the drawer. That was when I saw the many photos stashed in it.
I was slightly surprised to see them. I had thought that Hendrix's old photos were in the villa in Ucrebury; I did not expect him to bring them all here.
