Thinking about the past, I couldn't help but laugh. Everything back then seemed like a joke. Now that I thought about it, everything about it was enough to warm my heart for a long time.
Fate couldn't be avoided even if one tried. No matter how much you forced something to happen, it was still not going to happen if it wasn't meant to.
I heard footsteps behind me. Fiona must have figured I was taking too long and decided to come and get me to eat.
I tied my long hair into a ponytail and turned around. When I saw that it was Hendrix, I was a little startled.
Then I turned back slightly and continued doing what I was doing but at a slower pace.
What happened last night was a fight, right?
Hendrix put his hands on my shoulder. I could see him from the mirror. His gaze was warm. He looked at me as I braided my hair, no longer angry like he was the previous night.
I set my gaze downwards to avoid looking at him.
I didn't say a word and neither did Hendrix. Silence fell between us, making the already odd atmosphere feel even tenser.
I sighed.
I took a slight breath, but before I could say something, Hendrix said, "We're going to see Yana later. Do you want to put some makeup on?"
If he didn't remind me, I would have forgotten about it. We did agree the night before that we would visit Yana and her son.
I considered his initiative to start a conversation with me as a way to coax and comfort me. Usually, others always had to compromise when it came to him. Seeing him going soft for me, I could not keep silent any longer.
I nodded in response.
"Are you still going to the office today?" I asked while applying my lip balm.
Putting on makeup was too much of a hassle. Plus, I had to remove them later which just sounded too much of a chore. As long as I looked presentable, just lip balm would do.
"You look good!" He commented, like a child wanting to please his parents.
I smiled faintly, got up, and went into the closet.
If I continued harping on it, Hendrix would get even more aggressive. I had no choice but to turn a blind eye to it; that was all I could do.
I bought Yana's son a gold bracelet. It was supposed to be for her son's baby shower, but I thought that it wouldn't matter even if I gave it to him now.
Aaron had said that it was cold in Jarold City, and they didn't plan to have a party for the son. A family get-together would suffice, he said.
When I came downstairs, Hendrix was instructing Fiona on how to take care of Anne. When he saw me, he had a faint smile on his face.
"Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded and went out of the villa.
The car was in the yard, and I immediately hopped onto it.
When Hendrix got in the car, he put a small box in my hand and started the car. "Advancer Tech's new model."
I was stunned for a moment before opening the box. There was a new phone with gold-rimmed diamonds inside. This was a device that was both fashionable and chic.
Right, he had broken mine the night before.
