The mall was bustling but I didn't like it. After staying alone for a long while, being around all this noise made me anxious.
Freya was a happy-go-lucky person. She would look at every jewelry store she passed by. When she bought something she liked, she would become as happy as a child.
She was just like Monique; whenever she got to eat something delicious or buy something she liked, her whole face would lit up in excitement.
Some people said that only similar people could be friends. Monique had been my friend since young, so even when our personalities differed, we still stuck together.
It was strange, however, how Freya and I were able to become friends despite our difference in personality. This came as a surprise to me.
Seeing that I was in a daze, Freya nudged me with her arm. "Is it really that hard picking out a necklace? Why are you spacing out?"
I looked at the two necklaces in her hands and said casually, "They both look pretty good. You can get them both."
Before I could I say more, she interjected, "D*mn,
Arianna, this is the first time I've felt the rich mistress vibe from you. I had always thought of you as a plain white lab rat. Hendrix bought all the accessories and clothes you have, didn't he?"
I nodded. "He basically got Evan to get outfits from every season. I rarely go shopping, hence I don't know much about clothes and accessories. I'll wear whatever is available at home."
She gave me a thumbs-up, curled her lips, and said, "You're really bold. Hendrix really spoiled you like there's no tomorrow. However, what do you usually do in your spare time if you don't like to shop or eat?"
"Even gold isn't that expensive, no?" I was speechless. I hadn't even thought that it was expensive when the housing prices in Jarold City rose to a hundred grand per square meter, but four hundred grand for a necklace was really ridiculously expensive.
Startled, she looked at the bracelet on my wrist and said, "Didn't you just tell me to take both the necklaces? Why are you complaining about its price now? In fact, they're actually not that expensive. This necklace was made personally by a reputed English designer; the crescent-shaped diamond in the pendant is pure diamond. It's worth the high price, so it's fine."
Even if the design and the material were of fantastic quality, a necklace priced more than ten thousand dollars was nothing but an extravagant spend.
I couldn't help but sigh. "You've put an entire double bedroom house of a four-tier city on your neck. How extravagant indeed!"
The lady at the counter wrapped the necklaces up and processed the payment. She took the box, then looked at me and snickered, "Arianna, you really know nothing, don't you? You are wearing a bracelet that is worth more than a hundred million dollars. Why don't I hear you nagging at yourself for wearing an entire Jarold City villa on your wrist then?"
