The atmosphere was quiet as we walked back along the stoned path. A charming female voice suddenly sounded, awkwardly breaking the silence between us.
"Mr. Reid, no matter what, I have to thank you." This voice sounded unfamiliar.
I looked over and saw Aaron. Standing next to him was the secretary that Sawyer brought along; I didn't manage to see her clearly before.
The girl looked a little familiar, but I couldn't recall who she was at the moment.
I pulled Yana along and was about to go over to greet them, but before I could get close, I saw the girl tilting herself towards Aaron.
Her voice sounded tender. "Ouch!"
Apparently, she had sprained her ankle. Aaron, who was a gentleman, reached out and lent her a hand.
There was nothing wrong with this scene at first, but when I saw the girl taking advantage of the situation as she leaned into Aaron's arms, I subconsciously furrowed my brows.
I instinctively turned to look at Yana. Her eyes were blank and emotionless; it looked like she was already used to this.
I felt angry for her. I said, "Wait here."
I then strutted towards the both of them. When Aaron saw me, he instantly pulled away from the woman. He said to me, "It's cold outside, don't stay out for too long, you might catch a cold."
I nodded. "Yana's over there. Go and keep her company!"
Hearing Yana's name, he frowned and pursed his lips. He wasn't pleased at my request but he couldn't find a reason to refuse me.
Hence, he nodded his head.
The woman who had initially been leaning on him was a little startled when she saw me. She straightened her back and distanced herself from Aaron.
It was also because of this incident that I got to know Freya. Later on, this girl was introduced by Aaron to Sawyer's company for a part-time job. It
looked like she did pretty well for herself after following Sawyer around these past few years.
I nodded and forced a smile. "That's great!"
I turned around and got ready to leave after I finished speaking. She followed me and made small talk with me. I barely responded to her efforts for a chat since I wasn't paying her much attention.
When we came back to the private room, Aaron and Yana had already returned. Seeing me and Eunice together, Hendrix casted a glance at her but didn't say anything else.
Then, he got up to hold me, saying, "I ordered some soup. Have some later, it'll warm you up."
It was indeed cold outside. I felt like my body had frozen up after being outside for a long time. Hendrix clasped my hands in his to help warm them up.
