My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 649

I glared at him with a smile. "Your hair and tie are a mess."

I raised my hand to help him fix his tousled hair and straightened his tie.

He smiled. "If you need anything, look for Evan. Josiah is preparing to go to Hanlusia City. The handover process is a little complex, so it'll take some time."

I nodded, then nudged him to go on ahead.

He didn't say much because he was rushing for his meeting. After reading for a little while, I got bored.

There were sounds of a quarrel from the outside. I couldn't help but feel curious and got up to take a look.

It was Sierra, whom I hadn't seen in a long time. Perhaps because it had been a long while since we last met; she looked somewhat different from how I remembered her. Her hair was messy, her skin sallow and haggard. She still wore branded clothes, but they looked cheap on her now.

Two female secretaries stopped her outside the door. "Miss Noland, you don't have an appointment to see Mr. Roberts. I'm sorry, but we can't let you in."

Sierra couldn't care less about how she looked. Even though two secretaries blocked her, she did not give up. Her voice was a little hoarse as she said, "Go tell Hendrix that I want to see him."

Causing a commotion was not the best way to go. After all, this was a huge company. Both secretaries still had matters to attend to.

But I shouldn't intervene. Evan had just gone out, I couldn't understand what was going on at the moment.

After some hesitation, I decided to turn around and go back into the office.

"Arianna, stop right there!" I had barely taken a step when she called out to me.

She said disdainfully, "Hendrix treated me like a rebound. Do you think you'd be better off? He'll never be able to let go of the one whom he truly longs for."

To harp over such petty matters was a humiliation to herself. Rebound or not, her effort to rile me up was meaningless.

Her persistence was only because of her dissatisfaction.

Looking at her, I couldn't help but say, "Although I don't know how you walked into his life and how he noticed you, it seems meaningless now for you and I to ponder about this rebound. Sierra, if you talk to me nicely, maybe I can help you. But if you don't practice manners and courtesy when you speak, I can bring up our old debts too. The havoc you caused previously troubled me. I think it's only reasonable for me to protect myself for my name's sake as a victim."

Her face suddenly sank, "Who can you blame for your own promiscuity? I spoke nothing but the truth."

I nodded. I wasn't furious, I merely said, "I married Hendrix seven years ago, and it was legitimate. Although I don't know who gave you the information from four years ago, it wouldn't be hard for me to put the pieces together. My apathy is not a sign of weakness. I just don't think it's necessary. After all, wasting time on such matters is beneath me."
