My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 647

Anne ran over, tugging at him to play with her. Succumbing to Anne's pleas, Hendrix went along with her.

I sat on the chair, momentarily unable to comprehend how Yana's past was like to the extent of Charles not being able to accept it.

In the evening, at the entrance of the villa, Aaron looked at me intently and said, "Since you've already returned to Jarold City, you should move back home with Anne. After all, you and Mr. Roberts are divorced. If you continue to stay together, people will start talking."

I was taken aback. I knew he didn't want to see me staying with Hendrix with no title to my name.

Hendrix didn't say anything and politely sent them off.

Anne had been busy the entire day and was tired too, so she laid in the living room until she fell asleep.

I was stuck between the door frame and his chest. "I didn't sign the divorce papers four years ago, so legally, we're still husband and wife. Can't a married couple live together under one roof?"

Seeing how stubborn he was, I couldn't help but laugh. He was really petty!

I tilted my head to look at him, then said as I gently smiled, "We can. That's why I'm staying here."

Joy shone through the man's dark eyes, and a gentle affection was wafting through the atmosphere. If it weren't for Anne, who groggily woke up in the living room, he wouldn't have been able to restrain himself.

Autumn in Jarold City was unpredictable.

It was Tuesday. Having stayed in the villa for revision for many days, I got bored. After all, one could really die of boredom if left alone for too long.

I decided to change my clothes, head into the kitchen, cut some fruit and send them to Anne in school. However, the school didn't allow visitors, so I could only send them to Hendrix at the Roberts Group.

The sky was a little cloudy. Fortunately, Hendrix had prepared a car for me, and traffic wasn't too bad.

I arrived at the Roberts Group building entrance. What started out as a humble business four years back was now the excellent Roberts Group with the eye-catching skyscraper with its name proudly written across it.

Just as I found a parking spot, the cloudy sky started to pour.

The storm came abruptly, with its flashes of lightning and peals of thunder. I initially thought the rain wasn't going to be too heavy, so I got out of the car, lunchbox in hand, and started making my way towards the Roberts Group building.

Unexpectedly, it started to pour like no one's business. I sprinted my way to the company entrance, my clothes were soaking wet by the time I got there.

Lightning and thunder continued to reign outside, lighting up the gloomy sky.

Quite a few people were standing by Roberts Group's entrance to shelter themselves from the rain. I squeezed through the crowd and entered the lobby.

After previous unpleasant encounters, I didn't bother enquiring at the front desk. Instead, I took out my cell phone and dialed for Hendrix.

Before I could finish speaking, I saw him coming out of the president's designated elevator. His body was slender and tall. As he swiftly rushed through the crowd, his usual elegant demeanor was replaced by an anxious, sweat-stricken face.

He was handsome enough to stand out from the crowd.

I put down my phone, rushed towards him, and threw myself into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his waist and leaned on his chest. I said in a muffled voice, "I'm fine. I'm not afraid of thunder."

I've overcome the fear for many years now. However, I couldn't help but feel touched at how concerned he was for me.

He was a little surprised at my sudden appearance. When he realized it was me, he hugged me tightly.

Once our breathing relaxed, I suddenly felt awkward. I didn't know what came over me to have caused me to recklessly rush into his embrace, forgetting that we were in the Roberts Group building lobby.

How attention-grabbing was that?

Many people were looking at us. I lifted my eyes to look at him, my face burning with embarrassment. "I was bored alone at home, so I came here to bring you some fruit."

He held me in his arms as his face lit up in joy. He raised his hand to tuck a loose hair behind my ear and said with a smile, "Okay, let's go into the office and eat them."

Under everyone's gaze, I entered the elevator with him. I couldn't help but sigh. I sure gave the Roberts Group's employees plenty of gossip to talk about.
