His gaze seemed to have been fixed on Anne after sending us back home. It was deep and distant.
He was behaving strangely!
Anne always liked to go to the backyard to pick fruits as soon as we got home. Once Anne walked out, I looked at him and asked, "Is there anything that I can help you with?"
He returned to his senses and was stunned for a moment. His gaze was a little deep. "Arianna, if you're pregnant, but the father of the child wants to get rid of it. What will you do?"
Looking at him, I slightly narrowed my eyes. "Since it's your child, you can't get rid of it. Aaron, don't let the person who put you in her heart down."
Stunned, he looked with embarrassment in his eyes and said, "I didn't say that the child is mine."
I laughed and said, "When you look at Anne, you're probably thinking that if the child is born, it will be as cute as Anne in the future, aren't you?"
He pursed his lips and tutted. He sat down on the rattan chair with some annoyance.
Holding his head with both hands, he seemed to
be at a loss.
I squatted next to him. It wasn't much of a comfort, but I said, "No matter what, that is your child. You should never abandon your child. Don't let yourself regret it."
He suddenly stood up from his seat and looked at me with a slightly stunned look. Then he said, "I need to go back to Jarold City. I'll come back to see you in a few days."
Then, he strode out of the house.
Watching him walking away, I could not help but smile lightly. Humans' hearts could always be healed. Sometimes it was by an average but comfortable life, and sometimes it was by a child.
Anne came out, holding a watermelon in her hand. She looked quite tired. Seeing that Aaron was not there, she looked around and asked, "Mommy, where is Uncle Aaron?"
Looking at her, I felt a little guilty. "Anne, do you really want to have a father?"
She bit her lip and thought about it seriously. Then, she said, "Yes. If I have a Daddy, I can play with him on weekends like I did with Mr. Roberts. Daddy will also buy delicious food for me like Mr. Roberts. He can also also tell me stories and lift me high up in the air."
I nodded but did not know how I should tell her.
I never thought of letting her know about what happened to Monique. I never even thought of letting Josiah know about Monique's existence.
For the past four years, this child had long become part of my life. I could not let her live with Josiah, nor would I feel at ease to do that.
However, when it came to her father, I really did let her down.
Holding her in my arms, I said in a choked voice, "Then I will take you to Jarold City to find Daddy. You can be with Daddy like other children every day, okay?"
