I frowned. In her words, I had become a shameful mistress and Hendrix had become a bachelor who loved to flirt around with women?
This story was quite interesting.
Looking at her, I said, "If people never reflect on themselves and only know how to blame others, she will not only be painful, but will also fail more thoroughly."
I did not want to meddle too much in other people's business. When people reached a certain age, they just wanted to live the way they like.
Back at home, Hendrix had picked up Anne and brought her back. She picked quite a number of fruits from the backyard and was eating a watermelon with a spoon.
Upon seeing me, she said excitedly, "Mommy, you are back!" She put down the watermelon and ran toward me.
Dashing into my arms, she said softly, "Just now, Mr. Roberts said that he would make cola chicken wings for us tonight. We were waiting for you to come back."
Seeing that Hendrix was not around in the house, I could not help but ask, "Where is he?"
Anne pointed to the backyard. "He said that you have some clothes that could not be washed by the washing machine. So, he was washing them with his hands in the backyard."
I was stunned. I immediately went to the backyard. What clothes could not be washed using the washing machine?
I saw Hendrix squatting by the laundry tub in the backyard. He had already changed out of his usual black suit.
He was wearing the warm- colored pajamas I bought him downtown a few days ago. It gave him a very homely and leisurely look.
However, he was used to wearing high-quality and custom-made clothes. I thought that he would not wear the clothes I bought for him.
Unexpectedly, he was wearing them. When I noticed that he was washing the underwear I took off the night before, I blushed instantly.
When he heard the noise and movements behind him, he turned around and looked at me with gentle eyes. "You're back. I'll be done in a while. Anne had picked some watermelons. Go and eat some. But don't eat too much. It's not good for your stomach."
I did not know what a simple life looks like. But I always felt that it should be like this.
I did not speak. I walked up to him. I took the clothes from his hands and said with a blushing face, "I'll wash them myself!"
He frowned. "My hands are already wet. Go inside!"
Hendrix had finished cooking and was setting up the table. Someone knocked on the door and Anne ran over to open it.
It was Norman and Bennett.
The father and son were carrying a lot of live crayfish in their hands. Obviously, they had just been salvaged.
Norman was stunned when he saw that Hendrix was in the house. However, it was only for a moment. He gave the crayfish to me and said with a smile, "When I went to pick up Bennett in the afternoon, I saw an old man selling them, so I brought all of them from him. Bennett is allergic to crayfish, but Anne loves eating them. You can raise them in water tonight and eat them tomorrow."
I nodded and took the crayfish. I asked them to take a seat.
Hendrix and Norman had met each other before. The two of them, who were about the same age, shook hands and smiled slightly at each other.
Speaking of which, this was the first time the two of them officially met each other. But they were talking about the economy.
Hendrix looked at me and asked with a faint smile, "Is there any wine at home?"
